I just had the perfect idea to fix Dinars.
Dinars are an awesome form of bad luck protection if you need a specific piece of gear (like how i have tried all season to get M Sacbrood but failed). The issue with them from a design perspective, and probably reason they were going to take over 4 months to acquire from renown, is that they act as a free mythic item which does not require mythic raiding. But there are 2 ways to fix this problem! Either:
1: you can only upgrade it if upgrading it does not costs crests from having a higher ilvl item.
Or
2: you need the harbinger achievement for the crest type you want to use to upgrade it. With the harbinger of the gilded achievement now being doable with crafted gear, this is obtainable for anyone who farms enough crests from M+ or mythic raiding.
Using either system, it would not break the game for us to get dinars early on in the season since now we need to earn the ability to upgrade them to mythic level.
Is this really a big deal? Filthy casuals like myself who don’t do mythic raids or high keys are only going to be upgrading one item every 3 weeks to mythic item levels from the gilded crests we get from delves. Currently those will be used for crafted items. If dinar gear existed we’d have to choose between crafted gear or upgrading the dinar gear and our item level wouldn’t be any better, we’d just have some the neat procs from the raid gear; its not like we’d suddenly be decked out in mythic gear.
I personally don’t care, but it changes whether dinars are intended as a free piece of myth gear vs letting everyone get a specific item they need that just hasnt dropped.
I speculate that not wanting to give free myth items is why Blizz does not give dinars in normal seasons and why they wanted to only give them at the end of S2.
That or they could just stop trying to timegate gear and make mythic track drop from higher keys. Decreasing the weird importance of a gambling loot box.
It depends on how much time you have. If you have the time you can cook something really awesome but if not then either order a pizza or throw a prepared dinar into the microwave.
For the cats it’s easy, just pour food into their dish and they are happy.
How about they just stop pretending all items should have the same drop value and just increase the drop chance of the right items so we can spend more time enjoying the game and less time whining on the forums because we’re seeing the same pair of useless wrong stats boots for the fifth week while rocking the wrong trinket, all of these descriptives are by design according to how blizzard makes the game with the full knowledge of what item will be good for what spec.
If we can get rid of lame RNG loot roulette, even just a little bit, it’s a good change. Running the same content 10 times and not getting what you were after is nearly 3 months of working toward a goal and getting cheated.
Bad luck protection in the realm of 6 weeks per item pick is more than reasonable. If there’s some item that’s so grossly imbalanced that being able to pick it is “too good”, my counterpoint is that items like that shouldn’t exist at all. Nothing feels as off putting as realizing your character will never be as good as the one that got the .5% drop rate over statted trinket/ring from the raid.
Or, we just add them in when the WF race is over, and let it be with just 2 dinars, the “harm” that people keep trying to avoid is pretty much non existent with dinars. The only harm that would come to the game would be their active user metrics, which could be argued could improve given these would make alts more endagme friendly.
