How to fix crappy GV system

Remove duplicate rolls
Target lowest iLvl slots

Hiring?

M+ gives you valor points. You can use valor points to upgrade dungeon gear up to the ilvl of your highest great vault item.

huh? no it doesnt?

Pretty sure that was just a suggested fix.

You first have to convince Blizzard it needs fixing. And “I don’t like it” isn’t enough unless everyone says it and quits.

You keep paying. They can’t hear your words over the jingle of your subscription dollars.

Are you high?

I’m also getting pretty sick of the duplicate rolls.

Had another 226 helm in there after getting the same one I have on with a socket last week, and I’ve gotten the Decanter of Anima Charged Winds trinket on there twice when I could really, really use the PF trinket.

Too early in the expansion, with far too many 226 slots I need to fill out for there to be duplicate rolls.

The damn thing should just scan your bags or equipment and give you options to replace your lowest pieces. It should also absolutely not give you the same trinket choice until it has cycled through them all. That should be the case for every piece of gear.

If the game can track what I sold or disenchanted for item restoration, it can absolutely track what the GV gives you and exclude those from future weeks.

The problem with great vault is players like you thinknig its meant to give a upgrade weekly. ITs not.

Its made to give options nothing more.

Your changes such as targeting lowest ilvl wont happen as its not what the great vault is made to do. Your “fix” is not a fix its a change to the intended purpose. The great value is only made to give loot options that may be upgrades based on the activity’s of the week at RANDOM. If you get a upgrade great otherwise oh well. This is no different than the old chest but alot better as you get more options and can pick from them vs just getting one item and your screwed. The great vault has much higher odds than the weekly chest did to give an upgrade and is already doing its job exactly as it should.

As for duplicates I have yet to see anyone post a screen even when asked showing it drop a dup and pretty sure it cant. Note a item is NOT a dup if its a different ilvl. As diff ilvl items are different items. Getting the same item on two different weeks is not a duplicate, its a repeat. Repeats can and should happen. Make your slots all roll the same ilvl to prevent it. Dup of the same slot do happen also but that is 100% fine and should happen you woulden’t want your bis trinket you really need, to not have a chance to drop just since your worst trinket got the first slot.

What wonderful suggestions you have to make the game less fun. You should pursue a career with Blizzard.

What suggestion? I gave not a single suggestion do read. I told you how the vault works and how its inteneded to work. The only incorrect thing in this thread is people assuming the vault is meant to be a cash cow that always gives out upgrades it is not. IT is only meant to be a better replacement to the weekly chest and bonus roll system. Which is is a upgrade to the weekly chest without a doubt. I woulden’t call it a upgrade to the bonus roll system thou but thats debateable and goes beyond the subject of this thread.

As said the only issue with the vault is players thinking they should always get a upgrade that is not the case. The vault is a bonus for the week that may give a upgrade nothing more. Just like the chest of old but better as more options.

The intention was to add a semblance determinism to endgame gearing, but it’s rare that I’m met with any meaningful decision. At best, there is one item worth taking, per week. All too often, it won’t even go that far. I take issue with referring to the items distributed as “options”, at least in my case. I’m sure many players would agree.

The fact is: The Great Vault highlights everything wrong with gearing in World of Warcraft. Namely, a major lack of agency. Which is incredibly sad, given that player agency was a key idea regarding Shadowlands’ development. This only worsens when considering the further degradation of raid and mythic plus loot, which compounds with the inelegant design of the Vault.

Altogether, I’d say this is a large failure on Blizzard’s part. Many of their recent designs were haphazard tweaks to their current formula. Obvious and soulless mimicries in the wake of Classic WoW’s incredible success.

Anyone can see that improvements should be made here.

Just add bonus rolls make it at least a little convincing we have any choice over loot.
