Currently, I believe Blizzard has been intentionally sabotaging Classic since the start.
IMO, the main issue is faction imbalance. Sure there is plenty of PvE in this game, but if you only play 1-2 characters (1main 1 alt) like most players you realize there isn’t much to do at end game after completing your raids (8hours average per char per week). What you are left with is farming gold and PvP.
Currently, there are at least 30 times the amount of Horde queuing for BG’s as there are Alliance. How could Blizz let this happen? In a game where there are factions, it is Blizzard’s job to find a way to correct that balance just like they used to back in the day.
At most, it should be a 1:2 ratio. If Ally q is 3 mins, Horde q should be 6 mins. By not implementing a system to balance out the factions (and other issues) Blizzard doomed this game from the start. They want to be right (“you think you do, but you don’t”) and the players wrong, so later on in the future they can use Classic as an example to silence your voices.
This is not Vanilla wow… you are playing a version of Vanilla WoW that has been stripped of key elements that made you want to play all day and not just raid log.
List things here you believe would help create a better Classic 2.0 version of Vanilla. Ex, no X-realms to promote server rivalries and such. Go
I think that’d be the honest thing to do. Whenever I come up with an idea in my head for how Classic can be better I instantly recall the No Chances folks. I agree with them because Classic is supposed to be the Vanilla experience. A genuine Vanilla experience means no changes and an accurate re-creation of that (with-in reason of course; no game breaking bugs).
I think this is something best left up to the community to solve. If it’s a bad enough situation then I’m sure we’ll see popular influencers talking about it and the community doing things to fix that imbalance. For example, guilds have a lot of power and could incentivize people to re-roll to Alliance.
There are solutions that the community could come up with without Blizzard needing to intervene it’s just a matter of folks getting fed-up enough for that to happen which is incentive of its own.
I would only be okay seeing Blizzard intervene if it was to the point that even if the No Changes community asked Blizz to fix the problem. Until that happens I think it’s on us to come up with creative solutions.
One radical change that is not going to happen - allow horde fight horde in BGs.
It will: 1) eliminate queues, 2) remove HK farming from the world which 3) will make alliance life less miserable on PvP realms.
Another radical solution - create a new realm, with realm only BGs and enforced faction balance as experiment. Do the same with a few balanced realms - lock their BGs to themselves and start enforcing faction balance. This will at least create an island of balance.
I don’t like the idea of mercenary mode at all. But the last idea, that actually sounds like a great way to test with one free character copy. Maybe then, we can see what single realm bgs would be in this version of the game compared to other servers. Maybe with AB so that BG can be tested as well, but that’s probably not necessary. Blizzard just jumped the gun with the CRBGs, they should’ve tested the waters first with both.
