How to Fix Chaos Theory

Make proc chance 100%. Modify effect to no longer grant 8 seconds of chaotic blades, but rather to simply buff the next two-three chaos strikes.

In PvE, this should roughly balance out, because the duration of the buff is nerfed to approximately 25% of what it was, while the proc chance is modified to being guaranteed.

Fixes below issues:

  1. Removes RNG.
  2. Avoids awkwardness of blade dance or eye beam coming off cd before your proc window is utilized
  3. Enhances demonic, because you will always get buffed annihilations every demonic eye beam.
  4. no longer required to spec felblade/demon blades to viably utilize the legendary

Holy crap, a post I actually agree with Haugs on. CT feels bad on and requires even worse feeling spec. Removing the necessary of felbade/demon blades would go a long way… especially when we’re able to wear multiple.

Meh.
Remove fury reduction from first blood and amp up the damage it gives to blade dance, make blade dance 40 fury cost.
Make Chaos Strike 30 fury cost with the refund now being 10 fury.
Make each use of Chaos strike reduce the cost of your next blade dance by 10.
Eyebeam automatically reduces the fury cost of blade dance by 40.
Eyebeam cost 0 fury.
Chaos Blades proc to 100% chance on blade dance to make your next 6 Chaos Strikes fury refund 100% and damage increased by 30-50%

I’m not following the design logic behind literally any of these decisions

fleshed out rotation
literal abilities synergizing with each other on the base line.
Better synergizing of the legendary on top of everything else.

What is this logic!? This doesn’t belong on the forums!

I would actually use this legendary if they did that. I hate the RNG of it and can’t stand it proccing and not having the Fury to spam Chaos Strikes. This would probably help our ST dps a ton too.

The post is for an easy fix to the legendary that would make it more viable and feel better to use. It’s not about modifying baseline abilities.

That said:

  1. blade dance is an aoe ability. If actually discussing baseline corrections, stop trying to make it single target. It diminishes the value of our mastery. Blade dance as an aoe ability offers a variance from single target rotation. Why remove that by homogenizing it into single target?
  2. Fury cost modification is easily one of the least interesting changes you can make to the rotation. Damage increases, guaranteed crits, cooldown resets, and the like are far more interesting and fun to play than fury cost reduced
  3. Eye beam doesn’t need to reduce the fury cost of blade dance if chaos strike already does by your design. That’s redundant and uninspired
  4. Your change to the legendary would make it overpowered. You’re reducing the duration by two seconds (25%) but increasing its proc chance by 70%. That’s a disproportionate change. My design effectively reduced its duration by 75%, and increased its proc chance by 70%.

Who said anything about taking away blade dances AOE damage? I said up the damage on it via first blood talent.
Um the fury cost reduction gives us more CS’s in a fury dump, 4, equal to what it would take to free BD and proc a chaos theory.
Eyebeam reducing the fury cost of blade dance makes it so you can pool full fury, eyebeam, blade dance, and then chaos strike spam with the CT proc for better damage.
And that’s why the damage bonus is suggested to be lowered so it’s not overpowered.
On top of it chaos strike making BD 0 fury makes BD more useful for other specs as well as it won’t be situational use.

Ehhhh, fel blade / demon blades is love. Fel blade demon blades is life.

Only talent set up where DH feels like DH. But opinions

But even with rng wouldn’t enough haste make procs decent?

Ah yes, auto attacking and relying on a proc…so engaging, much afk.

Ah, yes, mindlessly spamming a Builder… Much carpal tunnel, very engaging…

It’s way more fluid and engaging doing felblade combo for anything but single target boss fights. Any other aspect of the game, felblade is just more enjoyable to use.

Oh I enjoy it better as well. I can’t stand pressing demon’s bite in pvp. I just understand not everyone else does. The revision i proposed just opens up the remaining talents as options, but FB / DB is still more than viable with chaos theory regardless

Don’t like it. And you wouldn’t buff the proc you’d change the power to “after using Blade Dance your next 2/3 Chaos Strikes deal 50% more damage.”

1, Your not fixing our rng until you remove the rng from demon’s bite and demon blades.
2, What does more damage during that window Dance or the Empowered Chaos Strike?
3, Might even out over time.
4, If your stack haste both will always be required.
5, it puts us in the same spot we are currently in and were in at the beginning of BFA. Once CT becomes worthless, our ability to do damage is severely impacted until something takes it place.

These have nothing to do with the legendary design as it presently exists or my redesign. That said, I am absolutely fixing the issue of RNG with chaos theory.

Log in, look at a first blood blade dance and death sweep and compare it to a chaos theory buffed chaos strike. You can do it!

Again, I have no clue what this has to do with the redesign of the legendary. I think you’re complaining more about the design of Dh and less about chaos theory.

Admittedly my design concerned DH’s over the next two or so years rather than what they will feel like after two years. I was not so concerned with our situation that far in the future. I’m not sure what situation you believe chaos theory would become worthless apart from post-shadowlands.
