Diminishing returns.
For each Ebon might buff on a player, reduce the buff by 50% or something similar.
This way, it won’t be bad to bring more than 1, but should make stacking 20 less attractive.

Why though? You don’t like winning? Stacking 20 is a bad thing, iirc they say 2-3 is best for a full size raid.

Ignoring shenanigans like this, the current optimal ratio of evokers to other dps is 7:1
In a standard raid comp that’s 13 augvokers, 2 other dps, 2 tanks, 3 healers.
Obviously there will be reasons raid mechanics don’t allow that to work because of phase transitions, add swaps, etc etc etc, but that’s still way way too many.

Because we’re talking about mythic raid teams getting ready for the next tier and trying to head off a disaster by tackling a specific interaction before it can cause problems.
Because everyone else is responsible for the bad experiences they’re having and now it’s all Augies fault lol

Stop caring about mythic raiders. Nobody but you seems to care. They aren’t gods and they aren’t important, they exist in a bubble no more than you do, so let them do what they want. Who gives two craps about how they build their group, if they want their experience to be 2 Unholy DKs and the rest Aug, then by all means knock yourself out.

Specs are getting screwed over RIGHT NOW because of aug evoker imbalance.
I guess all the aug evokers have to be out in full swing to make sure they stay brokenly OP.

If making it so it’s not optimal to run 7 evokers for every other dps somehow screws you over then what the hell were you doing?
We’re not talking about obliterating a spec’s viability here. We’re talking about bringing it in line with the rest of the game so it can be a healthy and popular addition.

The question is how did they not forsee this? Do they not understand stacking buffs is a thing? If I’m popping my CDs, I almost always pop them together for maximum effect. Augvokers popping theirs together is just additive in the same way.
Blizzard devs don’t understand their own game. It’s so painful to watch.

We don’t want to do this. It looks dumb and it means half of the guild is going to have to reroll if they don’t do something about it. The goal is to clear the raid as fast as possible within the schedule we have, if something akin to this makes the raid orders of magnitude easier then everyone with that goal will be doing it.
Now I do at least have to believe this will be changed, but that doesn’t stop me being so utterly perplexed at why you’d be absolutely fine with it not being.
I’m not sure why you’d characterize my post as vitriol. That actually raises questions in MY mind about your biases.
To keep the game fun, while still allowing people to enjoy optimizing and maximizing their DPS, the healthiest thing to do is ensure every class would be considered “useful” to bring. Now we can debate what useful means, but I won’t because if you don’t already understand that a class that does 10% of the dps of another class isn’t “useful,” then our conversation is over.
TLDR; it is healthy for the game and the game’s players to disincentivize stacking more than 4-5 of the same spec in a raid.
How about we just delete the spec entirely because it cannot ever be in a state where it’s even remotely healthy for the game. Even one by itself is literally breaking M+.
