How to find a WoW main

I have played this game a decent bit and I still have no clue on how to find a main. I have tried every class and leveled a lot of them to 30 but i still just do not know what to main. Can anyone help me on how to find a main?

well it depends out of casters I would say between priests and mages, but for close combat physical dmg I would say the paladin or demonhunter.

i added you, but the issue is i dont know how to find a class that i really want to get into.
i always level a class to like 25 or 30 and then just cant bring myself to get further… any advice?

I’ve found that you really can’t get a good feel for a class until you get to a higher level.

Do you like to heal? Do you like to tank? Do you like to do up close damage? Or be far away?

All of those things will help you decide what would be best for you.

I had this problem for a long time. I still kinda do, if I’m being honest. What helped me was two things:

  1. Pick a class that can be 3 different specializations, that way if you change your mind you are already on a character that can switch easily. For example, a Paladin can heal, M-DPS, and tank.

  2. Pick a character that just plain looks cool. Sometimes, I hate the way my priest plays, but I love the way I have transmog’d her. That takes lot of the urge to switch characters away for me.

I hope this helps, good luck to you!

I have struggled since WOD to find a main. Every class in the game disappoints me at some point.

I would start with, do you want to tank or heal. If yes, that limits your classes right of the hop. If no, go with a class that has 3 DPS specs. That is a great way to stay interested, particularly in the early level grinds before you have all of your skills and talents.

A few classes that seem pretty popular due to the fun factor (rather then power factor).

Fury warrior: It has a fast paced rotation, strong self healing, AOE/ST damage, and it can bounce around from mob to mob with a couple of different skills. Personally I find it a bit spammy, but it’s a fun spec.

Demonology Warlock: This one has a lot of flare with spells that build a demon army. It’s a relatively straight forward but fun rotation with a lot of flash.

Havoc Demon Hunter: This has a smooth and satisfying rotation, is great solo or in group, super fun navigation, and sexy skills. It’s a bit simple, but fun.

Monk: None of the healers currently have a super popular DPS class. I mean they have decent DPS classes, but not the ones that are the talk of the town. But Monk has a fast, mobile, competent DPS that many love. Plus Mistweaver is a strong healer that is great for new players.

For what it’s worth, I just went through finding a main. I finally settled on a Paladin. Ret is funner then many would have you believe, I wanted am off healer, and I don’t love Monk, Shaman, or Druid. I do like Priest, but way to painful to level, and I spend most of my time open world PVE.

I ended up maining a Priest simply because I like healing and I like the class. I had also gotten the furthest on it.

I think maining a class like Druid or Monk though would be smart because you can be all roles on them and they are pretty fun classes.

But overall, I would say first decide what type of player you want to be. If you want to be helpful and able to go any role, or at least two roles, then don’t choose a class that is only damage. Play a monk/druid first and test all the roles to see what you prefer.

Decide if you want to do most things with people, or quest solo to level up because some classes are better with solo content.

  1. Decide what role you want to be. Dps, tank, healer, or it does not matter. That can help you cancel out certain classes. I decided I wanted to be a healer. So Monk, Druid, Priest, Shaman, Paladin.

  2. Decide what races you really want to play as, that can narrow down the classes also. I wanted to be a Night Elf. So now I am left with Druid, Priest, Monk, Paladin.

  3. Mess with ranged and melee classes/specs and see what you prefer. Like if you prefer melee, then don’t choose a priest/mage/warlock to play. I wanted ranged. So now: Druid, Priest.

  4. Mess around with the classes that are left and see what you prefer.

I chose priest because there were so many duids and I found Holy Priest similar to my main class in FFXIV.
