I have been trying to days to find someone to craft the rare Alchemy tool for me at R5. I post about it in General and Trade and Services every time I’m in town and get no responses. The channels themselves don’t have much chatter going on in general so I know it’s not getting buried.
Why in the world are we not allowed to set a minimum rank for public orders? This way of doing things seems silly and like a tremendous waste of time and effort. Why do I have to hope that a crafter will be in town and paying attention to chat at the same time that I am there? I don’t get it.
Is there a better way to find a crafter?

Join a guild, or post something in your realm’s chat? You can also order some treatises publically, then reach out to whoever fills them to see if they are able to make the tool.
They are designed to be fast and easily filled by anyone, to help get the item quickly and help level professions.

You’re playing horde on Sargeras. That’s why you can’t find a crafter.

What server? Hmm … not 100% I can 5-star that yet. I think I could, but I don’t have enough 3-star mats stockpiled to confirm.
(one way is to place a cheep “bait” public order for a basic item, carefully make sure you don’t auto-pickup/delete the email when it’s filled and then send a message to the crafter who filled it asking if they can do what you actually want - the one time someone found me back in DF, that was how they did it)
Is there a real big alliance lean? Good to know.
Trade chat isn’t cross-faction but crafting orders are. If you have an alliance character (or open slot) you could find a crafter in Alliance trade, then switch over and send it for your horde toon

Stormrage and Sargeras are the two big Alliance servers.

Sidenote: I really hope they make cross-faction trade, it’s such a nuisance to not be able to talk with both factions easily

I could see them making a separate cross-faction trade channel.
That’d be neat too. I’m not a programmer do I have no idea how hard implementing either of those would be but it’d be great QoL

What is it you want made? I have a char for every profession, although some are not maxed as of yet. If you HMU in game and let me know what it is you want made, I could possibly make it, or level up the skill that requires it to make and then make it. Also, I don’t charge for making stuff, although some in my guild do.

this. swap to a horde alt, find a crafter, let them know you’ll send the order from your alli char. swap to alli char, send order. done.
it’s the only way i got stuff i needed on my alliance a52 characters

I didn’t know that crafting orders were cross, and I also didn’t know Sargeras leaned Alliance. Thank you all so much! Very helpful.

Assuming you’re trying on your character, Sargeras is massively alliance sided, meaning horde could have low enough pop to struggle getting crafts done. What you can do is request the craft on a throwaway alliance character and go back to the character you want it done and send a personal order to whoever responded.

Pretty sure there is an addon that scans your location and tells you who is nearby and what their profs are.
