Keep to the core game. Don’t change skill trees, class powers, racial bonuses, etc…
Only add content. Don’t remove any pets, patterns, recipes and so on.
Devote time to alternative game development for Classic. No one wants to go down the exact same road in the future. The developers have the numbers indicating where the subscriptions dropped off. Use that information to avoid making the same decisions that caused so many to leave. I know you can’t please everyone, but you can certainly avoid another Cataclysm.
I’m sure others will have great ideas that add to, alter, or even disagree with these. That’s the idea though, Classic will have to grow or die. So please listen to your subscribers/fans. This is a cross generational game now. With the proper resources and development it can probably rival or even surpass Retail ( if it hasn’t already ).
How they should expand on Classic is to release TBC. There’s just too much imbalance between specs and classes with these current skill trees and class abilities. Just wait and see how much damage Naxx geared warriors, rogues and mages do and you’ll realize that adding even better gear will widen the gap between other classes even more. So the best solution is to move on to TBC which is way more balanced and where the meme specs are viable.
This is one of the problems that ruined the original game. All the NEW stuff made the old stuff obsolete. Then the next batch of new stuff obsoletes the current new stuff. Wait a few weeks and nothing matters, everything you did just doesn’t matter.
I think classic can just be rebooted. Private servers launched one after another, and each one had very popular and people readily re-leveled. With the amount of players here, both new classic and BC realms would have enough players.
Classic+ is a bad idea I think, because it will dilute the original game design which I think should remain just as a museum piece.
True but there are a few things that such a game would need to be.
100% it’s own game that does not replace Classic WoW, but is a new server type that players can transfer over too OR re-roll new on.
Removal of absurd and totally ridiculous leeway mechanic.
Elimination of artificial spell batching.
Re-tune most of the dungeon and raid content to more accurately represent the earlier vanilla experience.
NERF the item level on gear down to an item level of 65 max; with alternate (NEW) content being gear designed for different talent builds rather than linear progression like we have now.
We don’t expand on classic. We keep it at phase 6 and release TBC servers and allow opt in one-way transfers. If Classic truly stands the test of time and isn’t just a bandwagon mobile, the servers won’t die when this happens.
Yea na ill just take TBC mate, the true successor of Vanilla and the absolute best expansion Blizzard ever released (imo, don’t @ me Wrath babies). People talk about Classic + and comment “expand on what could have been” butttt i wan’t to know whats beyond the dark portal, the caverns of time, i want to experience the dungeon that was to be i.e Karazhan. Oh wait, thats TBC !! TBC is classic +
I respect your opinion i know there’s alot either side but the majority i’ve spoken to that lived through TBC seem to rate it above Wotlk. At the end of the day they are both good expansions …
Mists over Classic though ?? I class Vanilla as the base game since you know thats exactly what it is haha, looking at them both theres no way i could agree with Mists being above it … Though alot tend to agree that it was a good expansion
I agree with the OP. Create new content in the Classic theme with 40 man raiding. When BC came out and it went to 10 man and 25 man raids it killed A LOT of guilds.
Because it will stagnate. I understand the desire to keep Classic, it’s the CORE of the game. Part of me wishes we could have all the expanded material without changing the classes at all, only adding in things after level 60. Never changing anything of the core, and certainly NEVER having level-scaling.
