How to End Battle for Azeroth?

Who will be the final boss of BfA? How will the story of this expansion end and set us up for the next big expansion? Here are my thoughts on how I would like to see it end. No leaks, no spoilers, just ideas.

BfA set up three major warbringers: Jaina, Azshara, and Sylvanas. Jaina was the final boss of 8.1. Azshara will be the final boss of 8.2. It would fit with the Horde v Alliance grand theme and the storyline so far if Sylvanas was the last boss of 8.3. To me, that would feel far more satisfying than to introduce N’Zoth and immediately kill it.

BfA raids have followed a back and forth: 8.0 raid killed an old god, 8.1 fought Horde v Alliance, 8.2 fights another old god minion. It would feel good for 8.3 to be another Horde v Alliance battle—the last battle of the war. That way the story would have a definitive, satisfying ending, and we could move on to an all new story in the next xpac.

Where would a large scale final showdown battle take place? Zandalar and Kul Tiras are unsuitable for land warfare, Lordaeron has already been torched, and we don’t need another siege of Orgrimmar. Currently the Alliance has the upper hand: Dazar’Alor has been raided, Undercity destroyed, and the Zandalari fleet diminished. Strategically, there’s no reason for them to invade Kalimdor since they have little to defend there with Teldrassil and Theramore gone. But the Horde has one last stronghold on Eastern Kingdoms preventing the Alliance’s complete control: Silvermoon.

Silvermoon is an ideal location for a large scale battle. There is the natural direction of armies: Alliance march north, Horde defend from the city. There is space for maneuvering, and a defensible castle as a last stand. A raid could borrow from Battle for Dazar’Alor’s race-switching to show the fight from both sides. Also, the Sylvanas warbringer was set in this location, making a nice mirror in storytelling.

So how would this battle go? Alliance invade from the south and hit some traps Sylvanas set up. Weakened, the Alliance press on to face a Horde ambush. Then the full Horde army is unleashed. Major characters go down (I’m looking at you, Genn), but the Alliance eventually press back through heavy casualties and the Horde retreat into Silvermoon.

Anduin then asks to parley. He says he will end the war today and declare peace if Sylvanas steps down as Warchief. Saurfang, Baine, and their allies agree. But Sylvanas has other plans and refuses. Saurfang’s allies defect from the Horde and join the Alliance, leading to the final showdown against Sylvanas. Urban warfare breaks out on the streets of Silvermoon as Horde characters choose sides. Nathanos is the second-to-last boss, and Sylvanas the final one. Sylvanas is either captured or escapes to Northrend, setting up the next expac. Baine or Saurfang take over the Horde, and both sides are so weakened that they are vulnerable to the big baddie of the next xpac.

This would set us up for the next expansion. For a new xpac, you need a big scary baddie, tons of minions, and a new continent to explore. All of that is set up with a new old god expansion full of Lovecraft-themed art and story. N’Zoth is the final boss pulling the strings. Throughout BfA we’ve been helping him as something of a pawn. He’s so important and powerful that he deserves his own expansion.

C’Thun and Yogg Saron are back. C’Thun was probably the hardest boss ever in WoW. It took players an unbelievable 80 days to defeat him. He was notorious as the guild killer. And hardly any current players have ever faced him.

An old god xpac would have an enormous new area to explore—N’yalotha and the Black Empire. Full of new art, new enemies, and new storylines, it would be the perfect new continent. The storyline would be similar to the success of Wrath, where the Lich King kept popping up to pull the strings throughout the zones.

Also, the developers seem to alternate a new race or a new class every expac. BC, cata, and BfA brought new races, while Wrath, Mists, and Legion brought new classes. We are set up for the next xpac to introduce a new class, and the groundwork is laid for tinkers. They look to be a mail-wearing dps/tank/healing class with strong mechagnome ties. Blizz is always careful to have new classes coupled strongly with the lore of the new expac, so a Black Empire could be full of corrupted mechagnome minions of the old gods.

The story would dig deep into the Old God history and their attempt to corrupt Azeroth the Titan. The undead and Lich King would come back, playing their part as the Old God’s ultimate nemesis. Sylvanas would continue her quest to control all the undead, eventually fighting Bolvar to become the new Lich Queen. And players would face a final showdown against the Naga, Faceless Ones, and Old Gods, finally ridding them from the world. This would then set up a following expansion, with the return of the Old Gods’ masters – the Void Lords and the war between Light and Void.

Anyway, those are my thoughts. Let me know what you think.

Azeroth hatches we get flung into the void and take on the void lords then poof all done

How to end it? Good. End it good.

Saurfang and Baine are executed and killed somehow, Anduin marries Taelia, Thrall comes back as Warchief, Sylvanas is the jailer of N’Zoth with her new blade, Jaina dies by her now brainwashed and undead brother. The end.

FTFY

Since Azerite is the lifeblood of the nascent Titan who is apparently massively bleeding out all over the place. And who still has a massive wound from giant technomagic space sword.

Or she wakes up and takes off for Argus and the Pantheon and again, the planet blows up.

The Horde and Alliance are lined up for their final battle. Then the Lich King appears, and starts channeling Graham Chapman.

“Right! This has gotten entirely too silly. You lot —“ pointing to Anduin’s and Sylvanas’ armies “— go home.”

Dejected, with slumped shoulders, they trudge off the field.

“Now,” turning to the players, “let’s have a good, clean Old God raid. Right, off you go!”

My theory:

  1. 8.2 we face Azshara, and we find out that she somehow managed to be the jailor and exploiter of N’zoth and his powers. That’s why we ally ourselves with the Old God by the time being.

  2. 8.3, N’zoth seizes the opportunity that Azshara is defeated to free himself, and begin to wreck havoc in Azeroth. Last patch takes place in N’yalotha (sp?) and we attempt to stop it, but the internal struggles between A x H and lack of union proves to be our demise. We are defeated in the last battle against N’zoth’s champion (Sylvanas?), but we aren’t killed because Khadgar saves us from death… N’zoth starts to rise the Black Empire to Azeroth’s surface as a new cataclysmic event that this time destroys even both capital cities.

  3. Next expansion is the Black Empire. Part 1 of the expansion is more focused on rebuilding and strenghtening… Part 2 of the expansion is focused on actively defeating it.

**But why destroy both capitals? :scream: : Reason is that it would be the perfect opportunity to either rebuild them with the current BfA capital standards and size, or even build brand new capitals in new locations… Maybe something on top of old Theramore for the Horde, and a makeover in Gilneas for the alliance, since Genn would be most likely to influence Anduin in such decision.

I take it you don’t understand that a star blowing up that your orbiting would not only destroy this planet, but ALL planets in azeroths solar system. It was fine how I said it.

I heard Tobywann was going to be the final boss of BfA.

I say bfa will end with a song and dance number. The heroes of the Alliance and Horde will sing We are Family

No I got that, I was just pointing out that the starting point of the expansion and the source of the current grind currency was the planet bleeding out. Thus the planet dying is a very real potential end for the expansion foreshadowed within the game itself.

Unlike the sun suddenly going supernova. Which wouldn’t affect: Outlands, AU Draenor, Argus, the Vindicaar, or the Felhammer.

Wouldn’t “We are the World” be more fitting?

Silvermoon would not work because they have yet to enable flying in that area to work properly.

Ha I like it but why does Sylvanas flee to Northrend? Seems to be a given action most players think of when they tall about her.

Blah blah blah cookie cutter boring good vs. bad.

Screw that, let’s do Old god vs. Old god.

Horde join with N’zoth and Alliance join with C’Thun/Yogg’Saron

honestly this is great plz have it be this.

Great point lol. Then Azeroth pops out and holds us all in her hand.
