As a returning player I want to start renewing my collection. I read up on how the shining tokens are for X pets and polished pet charms are the newer currency (item) used now.
I looked on wowhead but didn’t see a decent guide / comment on how to farm / earn these charms other than “use alts to get these chests”. Is that the only reliable method? What do we do to get a decent amount of these charms each day? Thanks for your help and time.
- For Polished Pet Charms, there’s active farming where you target WQs. I post a daily report each day in the Pet Battle Daily Report thread that tells you where and how many Polished Pet Charms are offered via WQs each day per character.
Battle for Azeroth will be the most difficult expansion to unlock WQs, if you haven’t yet. It also has no account-wide unlock like Shadowlands and Dragonflight. So if you haven’t unlocked BfA WQs, I’d focus on SLs and DFs charm WQs, and work on unlocking BfA when you have time.
- The passive method is to hit the Shadowlands and Battle for Azeroth mission tables with as many alts as possible. I can’t remember if there’s a threshold for the BfA table, but for the SLs ones you’ll need to complete the first set of campaign missions before the PPCs will start showing up. Basically, if you see pets offered as a reward for campaign missions you’ve unlocked the PPC missions. The more campaign mission ‘sets’ you do, you’ll see an increase in the amount of PPCs that are rewarded.
For Shiny Charms it’s really going to depend on how many characters you have. Old account-wide dailies for pre-Legion expansions offer very little Shiny Charms as rewards. Your best bet is to check Legion WQs for the Shiny Charms.

So then I need to unlock BFA WQs on a table by doing the campaign I presume?
Then in Legion once I get my garrison or…headquarters going I can do them there too? Or do I go OUT to do these quests unlike sending followers on WoD mission table?
Pardon my ignorance just trying to clarify and boy do I feel lost. >.<
If you want to passively collect the Polished Charms, yes. You’ll also need to do WQs to gather resources for the missions.
I don’t think Legion has charms on the Class Hall mission ‘tables’. For Legion World Quests, since you’re level 70 you’ll just need to go speak with Kadghar in The Violet Citadel. One of his quests should have the option to unlock Legion WQs, except on the Broken Shore.
No worries! The forums are here to ask questions, and because WoW has been around so long and undergone so many changes, Wowhead comments aren’t always reliable.

So SL and Legion = just go do WQ or talk to someone that “unlocks them” and BFA = forced to do campaigns if I want to get the mission table and passive token farming plus the WQ on the map.
Man that is…a lot more work than I recall in WoD just doing the daily pet battles. >.<
These darn pokem- errr battle pets…are needy now days. >.>
They have the Shiny Pet Charms on the Legion Class Hall mission tables.

It comes down to a lack of consistency on Blizzard’s part. The WQs are better than the dailies pre-Legion, because the dailies are Account-Wide (can only be done once a day per account), whereas the World Quests can be done on each character.
The quickest and easiest way to start is just do World Quests in Shadowlands and Dragonflight for Polished Charms, and Legion World Quests for Shiny Charms. ^^
Thank you for clarifying! ^^

Okay so >BFA = Shinies and BFA< is Polished noted.
Man…my head. x.x There’s so much to take in.
Okay I found your daily post, but I’m not quite sure what all of the numbers mean. Are those the tokens / charms you can get per zone per WQ that pops each day?
Not sure what the other things are other than the moonkin festival.
Pre-Battle for Azeroth are Shiny
Battle for Azeroth to current is Polished
The number in the charms section at the top are the total number of Polished Pet Charms available from World Quests that day. Then I have the zones listed below and how many charms that zone’s WQ has.
Stranger who I don’t know,
I logged on today to the in-game mail you sent me. I don’t know you but wish I did. You’re one of the few kind souls to reach out to me on WoW and I wish I had friends like you in life (and WoW). You’re truly a shining star in the darkest of nights, a cool breeze in a scorching hot desert and refreshing ale to a parched Dwarf. Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart. I wish you all the best.
