I’m a guy who always gets between 3k and 3.5k IO depending on how much I feel like playing. I main Guardian Druid (my main for the last two expansions) and I also have fun on Brew, where I get my 3k IO and then stop playing him in pugs because I find the lack of CC a bit boring, even though the survivability and damage are good. Now I want to learn Protection Paladin because I only pug — I don’t have any friends who play WoW. So I want to give Prot Pally a shot. I’m doing M0s right now with about 657 ilvl and I’m only doing 300–500k overall on bosses. AoE is hitting between 1M and 4M depending on the packs.
How do you deal damage as a Protection Paladin? With the same ilvl, my Brew was doing a bit over 1M single target and finishing with over 2M overall. Even my Guardian Druid with the same ilvl was doing 900k overall single target last season.
For single target, I open on the boss with Avenging Wrath to have access to Hammer of Wrath, and I keep using it along with Judgment and Avenger’s Shield. I use Avenger’s Shield to buff Shield of the Righteous. When everything is on CD, I use Blessed Hammer. So basically:
Pre-pull: Consecration > Avenging Wrath > Sacred Weapon on myself and an ally.
Pull: Hammer of Wrath > Judgment > Judgment > Avenger’s Shield > Shield of the Righteous > Hammer of Wrath > Judgment > Blessed Hammer > Shield of the Righteous, and I keep rotating like that. I also try to fit in a Divine Toll. And it’s not always exactly in this order, but those are the buttons I usually press.
Why is my damage so low? Where am I going wrong?
I know my ilvl is a bit too low, but the damage is indeed very low. The ilvl here isnt the reason for such low dmg.
