I’ve dueled for the first time today with a priest with my frost mage and i was countered at all times and did no damage to lower the priest’s HP to less than 50%, note that there was a dumb pala with me, he didnt do anything usefull but his damage was there too, dont know his ilvl because it happened in Wpvp but i have full pvp gear.
He countered my CCs, healed himself, killed the pala and slowly killed me till i blocked then he dispelled my block and killed me too.
I think frost is the worst spec to kill a priest but even so, i expected at least more damage…
How to counter priests as a mage?

i’m pretty sure pvp gear in open world doesn’t get boosted to 400+ even with warmode on.
You can’t as frost pound for pound unless that priest super under geared or isnt 70 (69 can beat you still how laughable our class is) or is afk.
Frost don’t have the burst dmg.

Without lines of sight, it’s possible to beat them. You generally want to maintain that 40 yd range, abuse your instant casts as much as possible, and kite them while you’re unable to burst. If you manage to give them no value out of their silence or mind game, it’s generally pretty good for you.
Try your best to use your barrier when they get they’re about to cast strong abilities against you; otherwise, they’ll probably dispel spam.
Also, try to steal those power word shields.
Avoid blinking toward them at all costs. If you do that, you lose. They’ll just psychic scream before you can dragon’s breath, and you’ll take so much damage that you won’t have an answer for other than polymorphing and ice blocking, which could’ve most likely been used at a much better time.
No fights are easy for a frost mage, but this one is winnable, sometimes.

It does once you engange in PvP combat or PvP-specific quest zones. If I attack someone or am attacked myself my ilvl instantly jumps from 340 to 411.
