Im changing my main from warlock to priest, and i feel good about it… i think.
Warlock suits my needs as a player better as i mainly do solo world content and they bring their own tank, but i really enjoy the utility of priest and the fact it has a healing spec.
I used to main a disc priest and play as a healer.
But over time i healed less and less and shadow priest wasnt for me. Both visually and mechanically.
But they made the glyph of shadow work so that you can actually see your character, and after changing some talents, turns out shadow priest is a lot of fun.
So now that i can get everything i want from a class in Shadow Priest, im going back to my old main.
But is it stupid to change main from a class where you play all 3 specs to a class where you only want to play one right now?
(I want to heal again at some point in the future. Possibly maybe. Id like the option at least)
Having all progress on one character is important to me, so i need to pick and stick to one.
How did you pick your main? And how do you stay with it?
We failed to sell you on monk huh? That’s ok, we’re a dying class and I think that’s what blizzard wants.
Edit: I’m a healer main. I tried them all and picked the one that was the most fun and had an aesthetic that I enjoyed. I stick with it bc it’s still fun, even though it’s constantly ignored.
It always comes back to druid. Don’t know why. I vacation on every kind of character and class, and have lots of well loved alts.
But my Tauren druid has been there for everything, and I always end the expansion with her. Oldest character on this account - from TBC. Older than one of my guildies.
I’ve just always stuck with this character and Destruction Warlock as my spec, I mean yeah there’s been times when it’s been much better and much worse but it still comes back to that I genuinely enjoy Warlock and Warlocks and well also having my succubus, incubus or shivarra at my side at all times.
We all play our characters for us, not for others so stick with or change as you want and when you want, as long as it works and is working for you that’s what really counts.
I started playing this Druid in Vanilla. It was the third character I made. First two were priest and hunter. I had fun with the Druid and still do. So it has been my main ever since.
Ask yourself “which class and spec would I still play even if it was the weakest in the whole game and completely unplayable?” Whatever your answer is, THAT’S your main.
Ugh I can’t settle. It’s so hard because it’s just got to be what clicks with you. Then you also have to like… be ok with all the stuff you don’t have too. Like fun utility spells! I want to love mage because of their portals but I don’t like the specs. Or water walking … ect.
Thats exactly the problem isnt it.
I really love all 3 warlock specs and they suit me very well.
But the whole skulls and stuff theme of them isnt really for me, and i dont know that id have been happy spending time in their legion order hall.
And their transmog sets suck
In a vacuum of just doing end game type stuff, mechanically warlock is perfect.
But its great having holy nova for aoe in old content, and throwing fortitude on people as you run by just makes you feel good.
Plus levitate for avoiding fall damage and walking on water.
And removing debuffs from yourself…
Priest has a lot of great stuff over warlock.
Including their transmog and legion order hall
One thing all achievements are account bound now so it doesnt really matter anymore thankfully. Same thing with io and such like people can see that and be like meh you might be alright for this on an alt
I pick my mains by what feels good and keeps me interested.
WW monk has something that no other class has to offer in Hit Combo and managing that and not being a spamy spam class is really interesting and fun
At one point ive mained all of these classes tho. Mage, pally mostly prot, and resto shammy.
Mage being class cannon was a lot of fun back in cata for me and building up dots to work with combustion back with tjat time combustion worked a lot differently. It was really cool for me doing it that way
Again i juat went for what felt good at the time. Sometimes change is good and you’ll abaondon full on classes and thats completely okay.
My first alt this expac was an pres evoker and ive all but abondoned that this season. Its like 424? I think ive muscled my way to like 1700ish io which is like nothing as a healer lol.
It looks fun.
If it is fun, I stick with it.
If it is no longer fun, I reroll.
I don’t particularly have a main, but more a main trio that I alternate. DF I’ve mained my Affliction Warlock but I’m for the most part tired of casters so I’ve been playing Hunter and DK.
The one of those 2 that I end up maining will be the one I naturally play more.
After awhile I stopped having a main and just have “Oftens” that I swap around at leisure. It makes my internal storytelling more fun, and insulates me somewhat from worrying about the endless ups and downs of “balancing” (aka Change for the sake of change)
