This is how I’m going to choose. Do I like the theme? Do I like the armor transmog? Are the abilities workable?
I think people are making a mountain out of mole hill with covenants.

Yea some people care more about power I guess.
I’m going aesthetic, mogs, all that stuff.
My holy priest for example will go Kyrian, not Maldraxxus for obvious reasons
I’ll also try to not double up on armor types on the same covenant so I wouldn’t put a pally and warrior in the same covenant Bc it’s a waste of a mog

I was going Venthyr because I’m a BDK and they’re vampires. We match.
It just so happens they have the best abilities IMO
Ppl get too hooked on one or the other and complain. Just go with what’s more fun for you. Unless you’re a 1% PVE/R, it won’t matter to you, to not have the best ability.

Min maxers quite literally are using words like ‘suffer’ because they won’t get to be optimal in allsituations.
They clearly have serious issues, these people unironically believe that if you don’t do the same dps as a FotM Fire mage for example, you are underperforming and dragging down the team when quite literally nothing requires such extreme damage requirements

Unless you like having 75% less fun than you could be having, I don’t see a point to locking out covenants.
This is just deciding for the players, in the sake of player agency it’s a pretty big irony.
Whichever is best for my class.

I’m just going with matching themes. Venthyr are right up this toons alley.
The Curse Nuke ability as I call it is rather nice too.
If you care more about power, go with that.
If you care about aesthetics, go with that.
4 aesthetics + 4 powers = 8 and there’s multiple combinations. 75% is just a number pulled out of nowhere unless want all 4 aesthetics and all 4 powers - which is just dumb because that’s like asking for every artifact weapon and to be a part of every Legion class hall.
It’s a choice. It matters. And I’m so glad Blizz is sticking to their guns instead of catering to these forums

I could care less about min/maxing, all I want is being able to use all the new stuff and have fun with it.
If you want to lock your choice go for it, but why should mine be locked? Just to spite a playstyle that you can’t win agaisn’t?

A talent row is a choice that you like it or not.
That you can pick for the best situation or for your own likings. Again, here you point how you don’t like min/maxing with those basicly when that’s not my point.
Blizz wants people to have less fun, yea I get it. In my case 75% less, because I won’t have acess to 75% of the new stuff.
If you’re serious about making wow a rpg, covenants are the last system I would put in the game. RPG would mean to give me the liberty to do what I want to do, and if I want side agaisn’t them all. Else it’s only railroading, it’s not a rpg. Covenants are 4 perspectives, they don’t change anything how the story end. And they will be gone next expansion.

Maybe, you should look at that line yourself.
Maybe you should try to educate yourself. And learn that restricting other people choice for bad reasons will not end well.
You get to do 99% of the entire game.
One tiny ‘forced’ RPGness brings flavor to the game.
If you want. Lvling is quick. You can easily get 4 toons of the same class to max lvl. There’s no RNG gearing either. So you can easily get them geared too, if you care so much.
You won’t though. Ppl like you hate effort.

Classes are how we see the game, they affect more than a tiny part of the game. Covenants are integral part of my class but arbitrarily locked.
One unecessary rpgness in the game, that doesn’t bring any flavor to a lot of people. And that will penalyze everyone for it.

The only important question is, does this make sense for my character to join this covenant from what I understand about my character and the way s/he views things.
