How to charge and display MacBook Pro Via Dongle

Hello All,

Recently I purchased a 32 inch Dell monitor — it came today and is able to perform well except for one major issue. I purchased a mini display port to USB-C off amazon to use with my existing dongle. Because the dongle I have only allows for one thunderbolt pass through I am unable to charge and project my Mac at the same time. HDMI is not an option because of the refresh rate and poor responsiveness.

My question is how do I salvage the purchase and make this work. I’ve researched online for a few adapters, but don’t wanna purchase anything before. Please keep in mind I need to plug in both my keyboard and mouse as well. Is there a way I can chain multiple dongles to make this happen?

Let me know any help is much appreciated! I have a 2017 13 inch MacBook too with two thunderbolt 3 ports — and the monitor I purchased is the Dell S Series (S3219D)

Just so we have a full picture, what dongle do you have now? Also, the HDMI issue may just be the cable and if you’re using the dongle’s HDMI port, the dongle you’re using – the monitor supports HDMI 1.4 which should be more than adequate for responsive 75Hz at 1440p.
