How to change to general chat?

For some reason I can only use say in chat. I have tried using help but can’t figure out how to change to any other chat channel. Can someone please give me explicit directions on how to do this. Say starting with general chat or for the zone I am in.

First start, make sure you’re in the channels. Do a /join General and see if it pops up saying you joined it.

If you’re already in it, then check your chat settings. Right click the tab for General, go to settings, and in global channels, make sure the boxes are checked for the global channels.

If you’re new, and you honestly don’t know how to use the chat, then typing /1 and then pressing space will open up that channel for you to speak in. /1 is usually general chat while trade is usually /2, making local defense /3.
