I tried the Tome of the Quiet Mind. But I couldn’t get it to change. I was inside a inn (rest area) click the Tome. And tried changing the Essences. But I go nothing. Please help this slow thinking old man do this.
There is no trick. Open up your amulet and select the essence you want and click the essence in the neck that you want to replace.
1 - Get in a rest area like an inn
2 - Hit ‘C’ for the car screen
3 - Hold ‘Shift’ key and right-click your neck/amulet slot
4 - Click a new azerite trait from the right
5 - Replace your major or minor trains on the left by clicking the major or minor slot
What they said ^^ but you have to return to the heart forge to initially make a new essence usable when you acquire it.

I tried this in Newhome. And it wouldn’t work. Do I need to be in the same place as switching war mode
You have to be in a rest area (your toon’s icon on the top left will pulse yellow).
I didnt actually realize this but yes have to be in rest area. If this doesnt work then disable any addons you have and try again.
I figure out what was wrong. I haven’t done the quest for the essence I want to use. lol Thanks everyone for your help.
Hey, so nothing in any of the forums talked about this part of the process, so I thought I would share it:
When you get the item in your bag from the quest, you have to right click on the item to add it to the heart. Then you can change the essences in the manner that others have mentioned. I ended up stumbling upon this knowledge by accident.
