How to be a Human Ranger Guide within WoW

Some people may say that there’s really nothing more to Human Hunters in terms of RP. That Human Hunters are just simple Archers and Footman? Well I can tell you that’s not really True. In fact there’s more to Human Hunters than just being beastmasters or simple archers.

That’s why I have decided to make this Guide of how you. Yes you can be a Human Ranger. Stormwind Human, Worgen Gilnean, or Kul’tiran Human this Guide is official for you guys.

Number 1: Your Playstyle of Gameplay: When it comes to being a Human Ranger in terms of Weapons you always start off with the Famous Fantasy ranged and melee weapon of a Two Handed Sword and Bow. These two are most iconic things in terms of playstyle of being a Ranger. Now let’s say your bored of the Sword and Bow. That’s ok because you can always switch to a Polearm weapon and a Crossbow. Guns can also be a weapon of choice but as well as your not stealing the Dwarven Rifleman’s Firearm then you will be good if your a Worgen.

In terms of Specs there’s Marksmanship and Survival. Those two are perfect kind of spec gameplay fit for a Ranger. Yes there’s Beastmastery but that’s more Orcish to Dwarven kind of thing. With Survival you can simply have fun fighting enemies with your Two Handed Melee Weapon while you cost more traps to your foes as well. Then there’s Marksmanship where you always have to keep shooting down your foes and of course while moving as well.

“I use this spec for fun but I’m sure most people would say other wise in terms of Survival ether way.”

Just find two of specs you enjoy the most and you’ll be all set to go in combat.

Number 2: Ranger’s Trusted Companion: For Pets I would start off with the ones that not only fit to Human Woodsmen/Ranger Fantasy but also some of creatures you like for example there’s the Wolf pet, Hound Dog within Gilneas or Scarlet Dungeons, Eagle Pet, Hawk Pet within Kul’tiras, Fox pet, and the Bear Pet. Only kinds of pets you would probably not tame are the Night Elf Ones like Owls, Nightsabers, Warden Owls within the Broken Isles, Dragonhawks, Hawkstriders, and Dinosaurs. Those kinds of Pets are for Night Elven, Zandalari Troll/Darkspear Troll, Blood/High/Void Elven, and Nightborne Fantasy theme. Of course some may say that you would be taming Wolves from Draenor or from the Spires of Arak. As long as your not trying to be a Human Version of Rexxar or being a Horde only Human with these kinds of pets from Orcish Homeland. Then you’ll be all set.

“My set of Pet Companions are the Wolf and Eagle/Hawk Pets. These kinds of pets really bring out bit of Human Ranger Fantasy to them also Hawks are pretty cool Birds as well.”

Number 3: Armor Sets of being a Human Ranger: Best way to be a True Ranger is wear Hooded Leather, Mail Armor. Like for example Kul’tiras Mail Armor, Dungeon Kul’tiras Armor, Wrath Tier Pvp Sets, Warlords of Draenor Dungeon Mail Sets, Warlords of Draenor Pvp Season 2 Sets, Hellfire Citadel Raid Sets, Nighthold Hunter Sets, Trial of the Crusader Hunter Set, Arathi Highlands Warfront Mail Set, and of course some of old world sets like the quest ones and of course World Drop Sets as well. As long as your not wearing any Troll, Orc, Tauren, or random Mail Tier Sets then you’ll be a True Ranger in No Time. Also wear Leather looking Cloaks. Fits really well to the Fantasy of being a Human Ranger.

Number 4: Your Backstory: Choosing a Backstory for your Human Hunter needs to make sense atleast Lore wise. If your going to have a backstory of being a Human Ranger General of Quel’thalas or something then you probably are not making your character less depth or have a good unique backstory. For Starters let’s say you were trained by High Elves but you were only trained to be a Ranger within their ranks like let’s say within Highvale in Hinterlands or Silver Covenant. As long as you don’t follow the same lore as Nathanos or Sylvanas or if you are going to say my Teacher was a High Elf Female. Make sure you add more character depth to her and also don’t follow the same lore as like Nathanos was. If you are just make sure you add little more depth to your character or other wise people might call you a Mary Sue or Gary Sue. Its probably best to come up with your backstory of being trained by the Quel’dorei.

“My Story in terms of my Human Hunter. I was trained by a High Elf Male Trainer and I was taught many things to survive as a Hunter like leatherworking, skinning, cooking, surviving out into the wilds, and so on. However I was never taught to be a Ranger General nor Ranger Regent Lord because One Sin’dorei Hates Humans in general, Two there’s less Ranger Generals within the Alliance in terms of High Elves, and Three my Character was not only taught by just one High Elf Teacher. He had 3 such as a Human Huntsmen within Stormwind and even a Dwarf who taught me how to tame big creatures like Bears and wolves. After being Taught by 3 Teachers. I only see two of them except for my High Elf Teacher who has probably gone within last time I heard was ether Northern Lordaeron or within Dalaran with the Silver Covenant or lost within Outlands. As of now for my Human Hunter. He simply wanders the World within the Wilds like Hinterlands, Arathi Highlands, Healed Plaguelands, Northrend, Kul’tiras, and of course Stormwind.”

Other then example of being trained by a High Elf you could let’s say have a backstory of you being trained by a kul’tiran to not only survive within Kul’tiras but also how to master the art of sailing. Or another example would be being trained by local Human Huntsmen/Archers within Elwynn Forest and become a Ranger by their trainings or you know same with Gilnean Humans who survive from Gilneas. Also make sure your Human Ranger has a birth place like for starters Stormwind, Gilneas, Kul’tiras, and Lordaeron. Of course there’s always other options like being Trained by Draenei or Night Elves but as long you stay true to where your from, who taught you, and so on. You’ll have a good backstory of your character.

Number 5: Mounts: For Starters there’s Horse, Gryphons, Bears, and whatever is wild. As long as your not riding a Blood Elven Mount or Orc, Tauren, Troll, Gnome, Dwarf, and Draenei Mount then you’ll be good. Unicorns are another option as well as riding a motorcycle but I would stick to something Wild.

That’s it for my Guide of how to be a Human Ranger. I hope you enjoy this guide and if you think I miss something or need to be corrected in terms of lore and etc. Post down in comments and you have a good day.

Have fun Roleplaying my Follow Human Hunters, Huntsmen, Rangers, and Archers.

yeah, I don’t think we see too many rangers in even STORMWIND for some weird reason. guess it’s NOT the most popular class in lore…

There is an SI:7 unit and Nathanod Blightcaller is all I can find on current or former Human Rangers.

Oops there is two more I have found. Here’s another Alliance one.

You can be an interesting character as a hunter without falling into the Dungeons and Dragons straitjacket.

You don’t need to have a pet, you don’t need to have a bow, or crossbow. You can be a spear chucker who makes do with a primitive fishing pole or something better acquired later. You can use mogs that minimise the bulk appearance of armor. You can be a survivalist who emphasises trap use above everything else. You can be a beastmaster who doesn’t name her pets because she sees them as an extension of herself.

But for roleplaying the only limits are those you set yourself.

TFW the SI:7 Rangers don’t wear clothes.

one day I’m gonna make a thread about “how to be a human farstrider” and its gonna be a guide on how to stretch your legs so you can take really long strides.

We have to remember that High Elves are canonically still in the Alliance, and that includes the ones who are Rangers.

Actually most of those became Wretched. The bulk of the others are either Silver Covenanters or staying out of things at the Allerian Stronghold. or they are Mages working with the Seventh Legion or other Alliance forces under Anduin’s banner.

There’s a few in the Hinterlands, one in Stormwind, and maybe in Loch Modan, but that one may just be an innkeeper.

I believe the Farstrider Lodge in Loch Modan is not only there but it recently got upgraded to include a Hearthstoneable inn, mailbox, and a flight point.

It’s there and has always had a High Elf there. There is some in the Eastern Plaguelands as well. Edit there are two left in EPL, one is killable.

There used to be more… there was a lodge pretty close to the entrance to the Ghostlands that was full of High Elves…all of them are Wreteched or Undead now.

Yeah, I remember. That’s why I edited to correct that there was only two left.
