How to balance MM hunters (IN BG ONLY)

In BGs only because casters are unplayable when their are 3 or more mm hunters blowing up them at a distance that they can’t even reach them.

Aimed shot and rapid fire can be interrupted.

or

Sniper shot and rapid fire can be interrupted.

or

Aimed Shot reduced damage and rapid fire reduced damage

or

Sniper shot gives a short damage boost but no additional range and rapid fire can be interrupted.

They can keep everything else.

I know nothing will be done because we know most of the developers clearly play hunters but I thought it was worth a shot

Apparently devs don’t feel there is a problem with hunters being ridiculously broken. They just plod along week after week ignoring issues….but if it was a ret paladin or spriest that was broken they would do an immediate tune patch! But since 75% of the wow population plays hunters…:.they can’t risk it. Remember the great hunter whinefest of 2023 when they removed double tap?? Yeah they don’t wanna go through that again! Joke class

Sniper shot should be removed from the game, simple. Its too powerful of an ability in open maps.

a few realistic things that MM should have tuned. one is their turtle shell should be dispellable like a pally bubble. Remove sniper shot or make it a 4 min cd like some of the other big cd’s classes have. and detune their overall damage by about 5% across the board. thats honestly a good start. and fix this shooting through walls stuff. an evoker cant even find a path if there is a little tiny bush or incline…but hunters can shoot around walls and halfway across the map. garbage class!

Just delete sniper shot entirely.

Decent MMs don’t use it in 3s or shuffle unless they’re cheesing. the range is going to be bonkers in season 4 and honestly, I’d like to use some of our other PVP talents but I can’t do it now without nerfing my output…

I’d be fine with this if turtle was a full immunity, it only deflects incoming attacks, i still lose health to dots.

Most any class with channeled abilities will still channel through walls, this isn’t a hunter problem.

fair points. but as someone who plays some channeling like shadowpriest…no one has the shooting through wall effectiveness like a hunter. its garbage and needs fixing. Especially at the range that they have. That really is such a huge issue.
If I were in charge I would say lets shake hands and its a deal because all those are fair points.
But sadly its blizz in charge and all their leader does is troll the pvp community.

I’m with ya, Sniper shot makes it too easy for bad hunters to do good damage I think… With SS removed, I believe bad hunters would fade away more (I hope)… On PTR i got my range to just a hair under 80 yards, which is… a bit much

i honestly dont know why blizz removes stuff instead of fixing it. I think double tap was a great ability and its not even something arena players used. same with sniper shot. it just needs fixing. does it really need to take away 3/4 of someones health out of stealth? i just dont know why they cant balance things instead of constantly adding and removing things. they arent even removing anything they are probably gonna double down on the ludicris MM situation. MM aren’t breakin barriers in arena but in bgs…its messed up

Agreed. I think the tooltip says 20%? so why is it effected my damage modifiers and mastery? it really shouldn’t be, but even if they fix that, the range it gives you feels too strong. if you nerf the range and the modifiers then I’m not sure it’d be worth using in any scenario (maybe?)

Also, I miss double tap… i know it was toxic but god I loved that ability (to just be re-added immediately via set bonuses on a random proc… like wtf?)

well … we never had these massive systems until you know who took over in 2016. World of systemcraft. parasitic systems. they said they would remove them in DF after SL was such a disaster with so many systems. but we still have tier sets and talent trees and they give people these abilities and theres no forethought going into an xpac about how systems affect balancing. so then comes scaling…a bandaid fix to a systemic problem.
and this is whats happening with hunter. not super strong in m+, raiding, arena…but the blowout happens in bgs because of open space/range and the use of stealth. to many systems, not enough nasa engineers to work the math out. Ion has to go

Most of those channeled abilities can’t be used every 10-20 seconds while doing 55k+ x 7. My drain soul proc is like 55k+ x 5 and can still be interrupted. That’s why I am saying, an interrupt on this ability would be fair game or increase the cooldown.

i mean i dont feel like MM should be casterated. but unless your a healer how to bounce back from losing 3/4 of your health before you can even locate or get an attack off? close the distance of an mm who’s probably 60+ yards away.
just some thought needs to get put towards this. i feel like BM is in a good place but if your gonna make mm a glass canon then let them be breakable.

Not a great example, yours has no CD of any kind while mine does. I’m not trying to split hairs but idk if thats a great example.

I’m not going to argue interrupts vs melee BUT Hunters can be interrupted via disarm, you can’t be disarmed and we can… I’ll freely admit that players don’t disarm as often as they interrupt (and most disarms are a spec choice, not default) but I do get disarmed a lot in arenas and semi-regularly in BGs

i think as a disc priest i get disarmed way more than hunters do. and thats F’d up but its so true. as someone who plays a lot of rbgs (although not this season) i actually call out my disarms in discord because its hillarious. and it happens quite often. but i NEVER hear a hunter call out their disarm lol it never happens. maybe range?

probably this, players do have to make it a priority to disarms hunters, not just an afterthought like cs

well its actually good to talk to an educated and insightful player. i usually get the old platitudes of people just saying “disc is broke too!” but … not really. tanky yes. op? no. I play MW and every other heal class cept druid. and disc is …meh.

You know what really gets my blood boiling? When I’m on my lock and a teammate disorients my dots off…

The rage i feel in my soul when I’m on my warlock, dot up an entire team, soul rot, everything… just to have a pally run in and blinding light everybody for the 1/10th of a second cc… or a hunter scatters my dots off, etc… talk about the most infuriating thing ever… Now I have no dots rolling, no offensive CDs and wasted the last 10+ seconds of setup (and the next 10 seconds)

buuuut blizzard is probably more focused on their earnings reports than fixing stuff…

Then we can make all damage modifiers go away and abilities only do tooltip damage…

You know they are broken by the amount of players z increasingly, choosing to join.
