How to add items to Add-On Rarity Guide!

Last night I spent 3 hrs on this and it should of taken me 5 minutes, So I wanted to write this as a guide to anyone new to the add on. As I couldn’t find any guides on Youtube or google.

There’s 3 Core elements everything else you can ignore and they are all associated to a Number ID once your within the custom tab. WoW head can be a simple guide to this by generally clicking on the item and seeing its ID number

Item ID- Findable on WOWhead by clicking on said item Icon, It will blow up a window and when you click on it again it shows an item ID.

NPC ID- Is a number specifically oriented to that Specific NPC within WOW’s coding. In wow head if you click on NPC the item drops from name, it will bring up a window showing where he can be found, upper right hand corner you will see a chain that says link. From there it will show you the NPC ID. I’m a noob and had trouble finding this originally in wowhead but in addition if you have the addon KillTracker it lists off recent kills with that ID next to it. So it was very helpful for finding NPC ID’s Then you use a Comma , as a space bar if multiple NPC’s drop the item you want. (Do not hit the space key)

Attempts/Chance- The add on asks for this vs the % chance you see in wow head so you have to find out what the chances are for it to drop and put it here and it will calculate your % likelihood from how often you kill the NPC from there. If you look at wow head and see a 1% drop rate that equals to 1 in 100. just like a 0.5% chance is 1 in 200. the add on will show 0.50% when your starting. thats what you want. in terms 0f the wow head and math 0.5% and 0.50% are the same thing but for the add on itself 0.5% will be in the thousands. Wow head would show the Jackhammer at 0.01% because thats a one in a million drop chance. If that makes sense. So when you see wow head say 0.5% it will be the same as the add on saying 0.50%. The extra 0 is used by the add on and is used in scientific terms to show more precise data as time continues which is precisely what the add on is doing when showing you a probability rate of running into said item. Don’t make the mistake of adding an extra 0 as it will show 0.5% in the add on but that actually equals out to 0.05% in what wow head would describe it. which is a much lower number than the actual wow drop rate in game. I’m using these numbers as an example as they are the most common Rare drop chances you tend to see in game or wow head imo.

You can name the NPC and item whatever you want but its advised you use the name in game for obvious reasons, what contributes to the add on tracking your kills is the ID’s itself not the name. YOU NEED THOSE ID’s.

You may ignore everything else it asks for after that such as quest ID and so forth. I don’t know why I’d need a quest ID for this as I’m usually just after a kill.

Either way once you input NPC ID, ITEM ID, And chance the addon will work as intended. Its an amazing Addon and I’m using it to farm a weapon off of a low drop rate boss. VS bosses dropping mounts and pets.

It gives u a probability rate on how soon you might see the item but not guaranteed. just like how its meant to be, if something drops at 1% or less expect to kill whatever it is ATLEAST 100 times but it could be more. Watching the probability % is honestly just a way to keep someone motivated but its really nice to have in game.

If anyone else is experienced with this feel feel to chip in if I forgot something but In my experience so far this is all you need to make the add on work.

Thanks for reading.

PS, if this helped you please comment. I’d like to know If anyone else needed this or if it was just me.

Thanks so much for this! Succinct and useful! It’s a great add-on, but the custom tab is a little daunting without instructions, so I really appreciate you taking the time to write it up
