Like many players, I quit early in Shadowlands due to dislike of every aspect of the expansion. But being a collector, I would like to pick up some mogs and mounts from there so I’ve decided to buckle down and slog through it.
It seems that most items cost anima, but so far I’ve hardly gotten any. Aside from a couple of WQs that rewarded a very small amount (35, IIRC), I haven’t found any other way to obtain it. Seeing as many of the things I’m after cost thousands of anima each, it seems like quite a lengthy grind. If one of my fellow forum-goers could kindly point me in the right direction here, I’d really appreciate it
How do I do that? Is it fairly straightforward or pointlessly convoluted like most everything in Shadowlands? Apologies for my cluelessness on this topic. Thanks for responding
Upgrading your Sanctum’s features to level 1/2/3 increases the number of tokens you earn from just about everything by 1/2/3 respectively. Unfortunately, the anima cost to get everything to level 2 or 3 this late in the game means it might take a while before you “pay off the deficit,” so to speak, but pumping everything to 1 pays for itself pretty quick.
Progressing the research rep in Korthia eventually unlocks a perk that lets you loot an extra 25 anima from pretty much every treasure you collect and rare you kill.
Kill the world bosses every week, easy 1,500 anima between the three of them.
Go to Zereth Mortis, every rare basically drops an Anima WQ’s worth. Spending an hour there will usually result in you having about 2,000 anima to drop off.
Kind of, yes… See, each covenant sanctum has several internal structures which basically act as minigames, daily activities, etc, and when they’re all upgraded to the same level it’ll increase overall anima gain.
I’ve generally just focused on very frontloaded stuff like this to avoid “farming” the things that only give, say, 20-30. I have a lot of characters, though.
Along with what has been said already on here, quests in the Zereth Mortis + Korthia (might be new if you quite before 9.1) has massively improved anima, so head over there and stock up
Thanks for responding. I’m guessing I have a ways to go until I can unlock Korthia & ZM, but it’s good to know the anima will be more plentiful down the road
Additionally, every alt you have can transfer anima to your main in intervals of 1000. So if you have 4 alts at max level, you can gain an extra 6000 anima per week from world bosses.
Raid bosses, world bosses, WQ, callings, the weekly quests that bolvar gives out and iirc there’s those brokers in the basement who offer anima for their weekly dungeon quests. I know people are mentioning the sanctum upgrades which is true, but you need the anima to upgrade them first
so to unlock korthia, you need to complete your initial covenant campaign of 9 chapters (whether its kyrian/night fae, etc.)… After you complete that, you can start your korthia campaign.
Once you complete chapter two of the korthia campaign, you can go and unlock zereth mortis by accepting a pop-up quest.
I would recommend doing up to chapter four of the korthia campaign because that lets you fly in normal shadowlands.
to unlock flying in zereth mortis, you have to complete a pretty simple achieve called “Unlocking the Secrets.” It’s not too bad and can be done in a couple hours (even quicker if u have a friend that can fly you around ZM to explore and kill some rares).
then just fly around and kill rares in Zm for anima, each one gives you like 9 tokens that are worth 35 anima. I get about 6000 anima in llike 30-45 min or so… its not too bad
all i know is ive been doing the ardenweald campaign quests over the last 2 days. so far i’ve gotten 3 mounts, tunic, robe, boots, bracers, waist, gloves and 2 bows, all night fae, plus a bonus set
Big hugs to all who took the time to respond. The info you provided has been very helpful. Thanks to your courtesy, the task ahead no longer feels so daunting
