How stuns work now

In one of the blue posts it stated that they are changing the diminishing returns on stuns where they stated:

Are they making any changes to rogues that usually rely on the mechanic to survive? Am I misinterpreting this? To make it so i can stun the pvper again i have to wait 16 seconds. I just couldn’t find any increase to our survivability tool kit. I will look into it more just in case.

I think it works like this …

Let’s assume a 6 second base stun. Currently we get 6 seconds + 3 + 1.5 then immune. For a total of about 10 seconds.

The new way will be 5 seconds + 5 then immune. Still 10 seconds. You’re just not concerned about diminishing returns.

That’s how I understand it.

I was also unsure of the wording. “Of the same category”. what are the categories of stuns?

Kidney Shot 5 seconds then a second stun like Cheap Shot is 2 seconds then immune. But Kidney Shot and Cheap Shot DR’s reset on a shorter time versus live which is the the trade off having the third CC/stun immune.

So if i start with cheap shot, and then get my combo points up and use kidney shot then i will not be able to stun the person anymore? 16 sec is a long time for stun immunity. I guess i’ll have to try the beta in a few days to see how it plays. Is blind considered a stun?

I do apologize Mafic, I still don’t really understand the DR’s of it. Just a basic example. If i run in and Sap an enemy (1st Stun), use cheap shot as an opener (2nd stun). is it now worthless to use kidney shot on the enemy as I have already stunned them twice. or is this where “Same Category” wording kicks in. Sap, Cheap shot, and kidney shot are different. Cheap shot is an opener and kidney shot is a finisher.

Also does DR’s count towards kidney shot as it is a finisher and states how long it is supposed to stun.

Yeah there is no more triple Cheap Shot possibility in PVP as on Live you can do:

First Cheap Shot is 4 seconds, second Cheap Shot 2 seconds and the third Cheap Shot is 1 second for a total of 7 seconds to be able to stun a target.

But the DRs for stuns are longer so it you have to wait a bit on live.

On Midnight the third stun would immune but the DR’s reset like you said under 20 seconds now.

Blind is not considered a stun so it has separate DRs but Gouge and Sap share DRs so you can no longer do triple Sap or use two saps and then Gouge in Midnight as the the third Sap would immune and the Gouge would immune.

But the DRs reset under 20 seconds now and Gouge has a longer CD like Kidney Shot so there is that upside for Rogues.

Spare yourself the headache as he never provides accurate or useful information.

You asked about the categories. There are 5 in total.

Stuns: Cheap, Kidney, etc.

Disorient: Blind

Fear: Warlock or Priest ccs

Silence: Garrote w/ Iron Wire

Incapacitates: Sap

There are more CC effects like roots and slow but they dont have DRs.

CC can be juggled from all the categories with no DR impact. But if 2 abilities from the same category are used back to back, DR applies.

by the way that this is stated if i sap a person, and then cheap shot them i wasted my ability to use my finishing moves kidney punch. All 3 are a stun and i can only do 2 now.

They are just telling you the different CC categories. You are being confused by that person.

Here I will make it easier for you.

Cheap Shot and KS have diminishing returns with one another.

Gouge and Sap have diminishing returns with one another.

Sap is an incapacitate like Gouge so in your scenario if you did sap (full PVP duration), opened with Cheap Shot (full 4s seconds PVP duration) and then Kidney shot would be half duration in PVP which is 2.5 seconds. If you used Gouge soon after it would be half the duration due to Sap used in such a period of time.

lol this sounds like i could use an addon

Midnight is changing that so that is why same CC DR at two in Midnight versus three on live.
