How soon before release do they put pre orders up?

I remember in the past they could do it pretty early, like a year before release I think.

Anyone care to weigh in?

They cannot legally do pre orders up until they have a firm release date.

Couple of months, probably July. Maybe August, whenever they do more ā€˜streamer alpha’ stuff to promote the game and get people to ā€˜buy the hype’.

Not true.
SL was delayed from it’s initial set launch date, and when you pre-order a WoW expansion the date will say something like ā€œBy the end of 2023ā€.
And if they miss that mark, all they have to do is offer refunds. :man_shrugging:

Usually they do the pre-orders with the expansion announcement. This is the first time that has not happened.
My theory is we will get it with 9.2.5 to bump up patch numbers. And I reckon 9.2.5 is like 3 months away.

Do you believe the rumors we will supposedly get an allied race?

Steam is full of them.

I do not believe it no.
That rumor comes from a 4chan post from April 16th. The expansion reveal itself was only 3 days later, and by that time many solid leaks had already been circulated about.

4chan threads just throw mud at the wall and see what sticks.

For an hour, Blizzard had the attention of hundreds of thousands of people. The time to sell themselves was then. It would be foolish to not advertise a new allied race.

Yes. I think there is going to be a late release of this game and allied races, plus all the SL raids getting leveled out, will be their attempt to keep us subbed and happy while we wait for DF.

Do you think it will be shadowlands races or the supposed dark fallen?

I’m 99.9% sure it’s not SL races. They are ā€œangels/demonsā€ or beings that have died and went to the afterlife.

As for Dark Falling? I don’t know. I’m not sure what those are. The leak I seen was talking about the infamous light-forged undead (like Calia.) The other guess was Tuskarr because there are pictures of them wearing gear available to us and riding a pvp mount.

However, Ixenn has a point too. One would think if they were releasing a new allied race they would have announced it. But on the other hand, they are keeping the prepatch and what’s going on with Calia and the Undercity surprisingly close to the chest.

I’ve noticed that too, when is this undercity, calia patch coming?

Sorry, I have no clue. I hope soon.

I dont believe we will get any allied races, but perhaps Im just thinking positively. Allied races are a rash on the face of WoW and need to not happen again. It should be as is being done with Dracthyr - you log on, you pick a race, you play it. That’s what players should get for their subscription.

No allied races are coming, they would have announced that for DF or would have been datamined.

I love dataming beets!

I think for once they don’t want to paint themselves into a corner by giving a hard deadline. I’m sure there is an internal deadline, but they’re probably allowing for more time for feedback. I think we’ll get a preorder option sometime during the summer after 9.2.5 drops.

The preorder option, or the lack thereof, is another reason I’m suspicious. It doesn’t matter when they release the preorder after the announcement has been made. I think the reason the preorder didn’t come with the announcement is something big is planned.

Twice now they have released new races or race/class combos with the expac. For BfA, you could buy the digital download a full 8 months before release and they gave us velves, LFD, HMT and Nightborne with it. They let us preorder SLs a full year before it was released and that came with allied and panda DKs.

I believe what happened was the new race was not ready, nor was 9.2.5, when they were expecting to release that to prepurchasers, and they couldn’t give a date when people could start playing their new race.

Supposedly evidence of them has been datamined.
