I just want to be able to use the pet I want to use. I don’t think that’s too much to ask.
Pets shouldn’t have specific mortal strike effects or dispels or whatever. The tenacity / cunning / ferocity system is also failing imo.
Just give us back pet talent trees and let us choose between ferocity/cunning/tenacity and let us choose a pet ability.
Being able to change pet specs would be nice, but the change that hunters absolutely need is taking lust away from pets and making it a baseline hunter ability. Anything else beyond that would be gravy for me.
I mean this is just straight up incorrect.
WoD pets had swappable specs (not individual trees which were largely the same 10 of 13 talents for every pet, swap 3 points depending on solo vs raid vs PVP), unique family abilities that were damaged neutral with one another and provided broad-spectrum buff/debuff coverage for group content, and that same utility available via self buffs from Lone Wolf.
The only thing holding back WoD from being the perfect design for pets is that Lone Wolf didn’t have a solve for Primal Rage, Master’s Call, Roar of Sacrifice, and Intimidation. Fix that (e.g. by calling a temporary pet from the stable to use the ability), and you have peak pet design that would be extremely difficult to top.
I skipped WoD as it was a garbage expansion so I don’t know about anything there but either way the point remains there is no reason to not have customisable pets.
Wrath talent system and you should be able to teach your pet Endurance Training, Predator’s Thirst or Pathfinding same goes for Master’s Call, Primal Rage and Fortitude of the Bear you should be able to train your pet however you want like in wrath and back.
WoD was actually a phenomenal expansion - for class design, 90-100 questing, and raids. I’ve heard PvP was also good back then but I can’t speak to that.
Where WoD suffered is that there was nothing to do, except garrison chores, which sucked. And if you didn’t do garrison chores, you were broke, because there was crazy inflation on the AH so everything got stupidly expensive.
I went back and did some WoD content to get some LW recipes and Engineering patterns and the unholy time gating was nuts.
It took me MONTHS because to make a couple of patterns need like 120 of an item thats BoP I can only make 1 per day oh and the recipes require 10x each of an item I can also only make 1 per day and also there is about 100 days of that required to get all the patterns.
And thats just 2 professions.
Have the pet trees with talents like the games of old just don’t bring back pet happiness to have to keep it fed is a task lol.
