How safe is it to main Paladin in Shadowlands?

Paladin does it all but are it’s tanking, healing and dps specs in a safe space? I don’t need to top the boards but don’t want to get rejected from groups for being uncompetitive.

If you’re not doing Hall of Fame mythic raiding or 20 m+ keys you won’t be rejected from playing any classes.

Maining Paladin? Very safe

Maining only one spec? Abysmal prospects

Being forced to switch covenants to stay competitive when you change specs? A grim certainty

I would wait for the tunings and changes before deciding on Paladin outright.

Maining paladin is VERY safe…IF you are willing to play all 3(2) specs. Honestly usually prot and holy or one of them is doing pretty damn well.

Pretty safe going Prot or Holy. Ret is an entirely different ball game!

“If” your heart is set on DPS then your best bet is to pick a class with multiple specs for the role. DPS spots are highly competitive so you want to hedge your bets.

For tank, Paladin has always been a safe bet. Shadowlands is no exception.

As long as you’re not trying to push any world first achievements, any class is safe. Classes will be tuned after a few weeks - months and any class at the top of the meta on release could be much lower later. Ultimately you should just play the class whose playstyle you enjoy.

Depends on what you want to focus on really. Each spec could outshine in different areas of mythic dungeon, raiding or pvp. In my honest opinion I would pick more than one main to satisfy each. I had my heart broken as a resto shaman when my raid group dropped me for a holy paladin, I also had my heart broken when my raid group dropped my prot paladin for a DK

The tank and heal spec are both about as safe as it gets, and even Ret seems to be doing ok though nobody seems excited about it. The worst that happens if you roll Paladin is you find it hard to find a spot as melee dps in a raid

Idk the infusion of light changes and crusader strike holy power generation seems pretty gross if your a PvP hpal player.

We’re looking better than we did going into BFA. A low bar but still and we finished incredibly strong.

most of the ret whining is about pvp. if that’s your thing, then yeah i wouldn’t go ret. i’m staying prot paladin for SL, but i dont pvp.
