How reliable is I.O?

Just ran an AD +12 tank had 1.3k I.O so i figured he may have some experience or what not. Soon as we get to Vol’kaal, he doesn’t interrupt Noxious Stench. Healer dies. Call him out on the interrupt, yet he focuses on us downing the totems. Everyone else calls him out, he continues to debate the totems.

My question is with people selling runs how reliable is the I.O system?

As reliable as any pass system does it guarantee a good player no people have always found a way to look better then they are but it still greatly increases the likely hood of someone who knows what they are doing.

The amount of people that purchase 10+ runs of raiderIO specifically to bump up their score so they can participate in more m+ is so incredibly small its probably not even worth mentioning.

If you are referring to the tank you used on 06/21 for the 12 AD that timed out, it looks pretty clear from his history he is not a person that buys runs to bump up his score. As he has tanked a 10+ AD about 7 times it looks like. But also depleted like 12 10+ AD keys as well.

They’re may be multiple successful tactics that work for every encounter. If they’re used to a group that runs it a certain way, or they’re used to other people taken care of certain mechanics things can go south quickly.

That’s just a thing about pugs and tougher content. You can have a group of extremely capable people fail just because they aren’t used to playing with each other.

IO is about as good an indicator as you can get. Even if they’re buying runs, at least they’ve seen it and aren’t just coming off the streets from heroics completly oblivious to 80% of the mechanics because they don’t matter at lower levels.

Bruh he sucked on the second boss that should have been the easiest

Well if the number of level 1’s selling runs in /2 on my server are any indication… They’re not worth the web page their printed on. Business must be really, really good for this many people to be engaged in selling runs.

It us proven to be a very reliable way to get kicked or outright not grouped.

Kicked from what exactly

And? You didn’t screen hard enough then as Akston pointed out he has failed more AD 10+ than succeeded.

That 1.3k IO might have been earned as a DPS. You can never really know, the score just tells the story of his progression.

And also, like anything in this game, people(beats me why, seriously, the point of playing is doing the stuff yourself) can buy their gear or ranks for gold.

I am not saying he didn’t suck. Only that he clearly doesn’t rely on buying m+ runs to alter his IO.

RaiderIO does actually have a way to see tank scores vs dps scores. The person in question was 1215 tanking, 1280 DPS, for a combined 1350.

Its an anti - leaver system. (Yes, I created a word :rage:)

That’s about it.

I find io gets more accurate the higher you go. Lower keys are easy enough to be carried through whether or not they are paid. When people get over 2k it is harder for them to get there workout earning it

I have found it is not reliable at all.

There is selling runs, but a DPS can also join random groups, get their IO level up with little to no effort and make themselves look good, than move over to tanking or healing and fail because they do not have the experience in those roles.

There needs to be an entirely different scoring system like Warcraft logs, or at a bare minimum have a separate IO for DPS/Tanks/Heals.

it’s not at all, but without it you can just delete game, cause you’ll never find m+ party

There is a separate score. It’s not obvious in the tool tip, but there’s an icon that shows what roles factor into a person’s io. You have to look them up on the site to dig into the details though.

I mean, sure he was wrong not interrupting the cast, but if I’m not mistaken every class in the game has an interrupt of some sort.

This highlights my main problem with IO. It fosters this idea that high io = good player who knows everything, lower io = bad player who knows nothing.
When in reality a lot of factors come into play…
Sometimes ppl are carried intentionally to a high io and know markedly less about a dungeon then they should at their io level because they’ve just been carried the whole way by friends or a guild that covers all the stuns and mechanics for them.
Sometimes ppl have had bad luck with pugs and their io stays stagnant but they know a lot about the dungeons and all the mechanics.
Sometimes ppl have a solid guild group to push with making ranking easier.
Sometimes ppl have been carried unintentionally by getting into lucky pug groups, earning a higher io even though they might not necessarily “deserve” it.

The point is, there are reasons a mediocre or average player can have a high io, while a rather decent player has a lower io.
Going solely off numbers isn’t always going to work out. It’s a good guide, but it’s not all there is to a person and how they’re going to perform…

You aren’t wrong, but if the comp is 3 melee and a tank…the tank is the only one that can reach the boss.

No one really checks the site, that is the point of the addon so you can easily see the score. And the score itself is a combined score meaning someone can heal and easily healable dungeon and DPS a harder one and have a combined score that does not really reflect their skill.
