How rare is it to fish up mounts?

I’m a bit baffled. I fished up one of those manta ray mounts just now. How rare is that again? I’m not trying to Flex or anything I’m just baffled such a rare thing happened.

It’s not that rare to get the manta ray, actually. I’ve gotten five without trying. Hehe

Depends… I have the turtle mount and it takes like thousands maybe millions of casts.

I’m a dead keen fisher-upperer. I’ve only fished up one mount in over a decade. I’d hazard that they’re pretty rare.

My 7th cast in Kul Tiras caught me the ray.

Meanwhile, I’ve been fishing fairly consistently since WotLK came out and I still dont have the turtle.

If I recall correctly, I fished a ton in WOTLK and never got the turtle. Then I either got it near the end, or the start of the next expansion, after I forgot about it. That would be the “sea turtle”, of course. I’ve tried fishing at my garrison and such, for the “riding turtle”, but have had no luck.

That one isn’t very rare. I maxed out fishing and never saw one so it varies.

After a decade, I finally got the Sea Turtle.

I caught a turtle back in Wrath on my paladin and it was long after I hit the 10k caught mark. I somehow managed to get a second one in Cataclysm when they were expanded to drop in other places. Still no ray but I’ve spent about 20 minutes fishing total so far this expansion.

But when did you get your Great Sea Ray? Blizzard nerfed the hell out of it early in the xpac. Then it was maybe 200 cast… now it’s in the thousands.

The OP asked about the manta ray. I don’t know anything about the other ones.

Ok I guess I’m confused. There’s only two stingrays and one of them is purchased from the DMF.

I’ve caught three manta rays; but I fish almost every school I see.

I caught the sea turtle back in Wrath while fishing for feasts; haven’t seen once since.

No idea! I just know I got a bunch from fishing in the bay at Boralus. I’m not sure which is which.

If that’s the one they nerfed, that sucks. It was fun giving them away to friends. :confused:

Yeah it’s now has the sea turtle drop rate from Fishing. So yeah, Rose, you got a rare mount.

I know this is an old post but I recently decided to try for these mounts. I am not enjoying the prospects.

At least I can sell the fish.
