I’d be all for a stacking debuff that prevents queueing, but losing rating for not taking a queue is too far.
And how much stacking?
Ten minutes that doubles each time until the next daily reset?
I guess that can be fair.
Sure.
Edit:
Sorry for the short reply, I was in an RBG.
Anyway, absolutely, but why stop it at next reset?
Yeah. Didn’t mean to sound rude… was just sayin’ one time tells us very little. All it says is, “Hey - we got into a game together one time!” It doesn’t tell you whether or not that was merely coincidental. You need a bigger sample size than one to know that your method was actually working.
The thing is… removing the option bc it could (potentially) be abused might not be so good, when it’s the fastest Q combo for a full group in the Q. The thing is, even if they removed the Duo Q altogether, ppl are still going to try and game the system. So, we should make the game mode terrible bc it could (potentially) happen? They’re still going to try to find another way. You’re not stopping them - but you are going to mess w Q times, that’s for sure!
The Healer +1 (Duo Q) is more than just “A nice thing for Healers.” It’s an integral part of ensuring fast Qs, w Healer/Healer being the fastest Q match due to the Healer/DPS ratio and the 2 Healer requirement (4 in total).
This also begs the question: who the heck would bother w this janky, unreliable method - which is bannable - for boosting? If ppl want a boost, why not just go get a 2s boost, like ordinary ppl? You’d be done in a single session, and it’s common practice. Not bannable.
I really don’t see this being as popular as you guys are thinking. It’s too risky, it’s inefficient, and there’s a better way: 2s.
That could work, too.
I think it would be unwise to tamper w the Q system - Healer +1 (Duo Q) exists for a reason, as much as ppl don’t like it. Little changes like an RNG delay on pop, removing the player count, etc., would be fairly easy to implement, and might even be enough to make Q sync in Blitz just not worth the effort - not that it’s worth the effort now, mind you. Why you’d want to sit around in voice, trying to Q sync a Blitz to boost - risking a ban - when you could just do an Arena boost makes no sense to me.
Word of advice: If you talk to a Booster and they suggest Blitz as the method - an unreliable, inefficient, and bannable method - it’s bc they’re trash players who couldn’t hack it in Arenas, but need to cheat to boost. Best way to kill Q sync boosting (cheating, esp. seeing as rating would be involved) is to educate ppl on the fact that it’s the worst method of getting boosted. If you buy a boost from these monkeys and get banned… IMO, you got what you deserved for being so stupid.
Terrible suggestion.
Yeah, but punishing for players who have bladders, dogs, kids, who just ate a gas station burrito…
I suspect they’ll be working on this. If the mode goes Rated, they will be hunting down cheaters - I guarantee it. They don’t care so much about Q sync in random BGs and Epic BGs bc they don’t really matter - they kind of let it slide (friends wanting to play together in an MMO and all), but they will care about it disrupting a Rated game mode.
Oh - and how often will that be, do you presume?
You’re making it sound like it’ll be common practice to risk getting banned. Perhaps you’ll face a Q sync in Blitz 1 time in 100 games once Blitz goes Rated bc most ppl aren’t going to risk getting banned to cheat at Blitz.
That tinfoil hat is on a bit too tight.
My bet is that my dog will need to go outside far more times than I’ll wind up facing Q sync in Blitz.
If I’m going to lose CR just bc my dog needed out as the Q popped, I won’t bother Qing the mode.
So you’re fine w losing CR bc you aggro’d the wife? That’s cool. Most ppl won’t be fine that.
Except that you don’t get to decide when LIFE happens; LIFE doesn’t care about your Q pop.
Is that a fact?
10 mins. for a first miss is a bit too much. Giving ppl deserter (essentially) for missing a Q is not a good suggestion, either.
2 healers, the perfect mmr dropper.
2 Healers - the fastest game starters, seeing as they fill 2/4 required slots.
wow players are petty, someone piss off one healer and both stop healing or trolling. its a horrible idea.
They’ll do that even wo Duo Q.
true, true, true.
too strict of MMR bands and you end up with massive queue times at either end of the bell curve. open up the MMR bands and people can duo queue to target MMR bands and sync.
realistically the best solution is to remove duo queueing, make it solo only and just increase the rewards for healers
Think of this as a pilot or feasibility study.
I don’t think the OP is obligated to do an extended study. They’re not being paid to do this. Also, they might be putting people’s accounts in jeopardy.
It’s like testing an exploit once versus testing an exploit 10+ times. Or however many times you want them to test this method.
Yeah… I got that.
Oh - you mean like they did w RSS? Yeah, that’s workin’ out.
As a Healer, I’d rather have my +1 to play w than a box of fish. They also kind of set the precedent, so going back on that now is not a good idea.
I think this depends on how long queue times are.
If Blitz queue times end up mirroring RSS queue times, people might be waiting 30+ minutes for a queue pop. If players really need to bio or do something IRL, they’re not going to drop queue. They’ll just pray the queue doesn’t pop while they’re AFK.
If the queue pops while they’re away and they miss it, I think it’s bad enough that they wasted a big chunk of their time. If they also lose rating, that would be rubbing salt in the wound.
Yea, but the key is average queue time. You can cancel the pop up to enter anytime before the average wait time is met. It’s only AFTER the average wait time that you should be forced to enter.
And further in the discussion we came to a better solution. Instead of rating loss you get a 15 minute debuff until you can queue again. It doubles each time you cancel the pop up to enter AFTER the average wait time is passed. The debuff resets each morning when servers reset.
RSS says average wait time is 15 minutes. Sometimes, it doesn’t pop for me until ~30 minutes. If someone is waiting 30+ minutes, we shouldn’t be surprised if they miss their queue pop. They’re probably in the bathroom or something.
So I missed my 30+ minute queue pop, and now I need to wait 15 minutes, before I can wait another 30+ minutes?
This really doesn’t work if Blitz queue times are long like RSS.
Come up with a better solution.
I rather deal with this 15 min queue debuff once in awhile then constantly deal with sync cheats. Pick your poison or come up with something better.
So you guys are worried that people are going to sell boosts to healers, specifically only to healers, by getting together 4 healers, 2 are there to tank, 1 there to actually play and one there being boosted.
Whoever is organizing this is going to have to make sure that all 3 healers that are doing the boosting are in the same mmr range, all so they can get one win?
Cause after that one win, the losing healers drop rating and the winning healers gain rating making it harder / possibly impossible for these healers to queue again.
So now you need a string of healers all with different ratings ready to go, plus sit there and mess around with trying to sync queue all so you can get rating in blitz?
This is like somebody saying: "i wanna go kill this world boss. I could finish it by myself in 5 minute because i can just join a group already doing it OR i could get the signatures for a new guild, wait until i have 40 members, get the mats for enchants/potions/flasks for all 40 members, set a date and time for everyone to log on, get everyone in disc, head to that world boss and kill that sucker.
Can they do that? Ya. But why would they. Hours of prep for one win? Lol
In blitz? How do you even tell, nobody has a personal rating
People just can’t play the game as it’s meant to be played.
I often find this is because one team is doing objectives and the other one isn’t honestly. Not sure why but I get on teams say in Silvershard where the team never leaves mid.
