I detest moonkin form. I have used astral glyph for the entire time its been available. Seeing moonkin form as a druid talent got be really excited because it was skipable. I was perfectly fine loosing the options that link from it.
I need to ask how optionally it actually is. Nevermind the trivial damage boost and armor buff. Will moonkin form be required for balance spells and therefor NOT a skipable, optional talent, and thus a mandatory take?
You can technically skip it and the talents related to improving it but it’s also a 10% spell damage increase. Which unless I’m crazy isn’t actually trivial.
I don’t parse, so I personally don’t care if I do 2% less damage by the end of a fight. I completely understand people see free damage as non trivial. I’m more concerned if balance spells will require moonkin form pike feral abilities require cat.
They won’t! you can actually get Starsurge before moonkin form and it has no mentioned requirement.
None of them did. So unless they’re going to let you rake and mangle in any stance, this does not confirm or deny anything I’m afraid. As tempting as feral moonkin would sound.
While true, they don’t specify, I think the fact you gain starsurge BEFORE you can gain moonkin does confirm it can be cast without moonkin. Why would they give you a spell you couldn’t cast until two more levels while leveling?
You can skip it, at the cost of doing 10% less damage and never being able to use Typhoon or Hibernate.
You can also just talent into it and not use it, same as now.
Just like now, you can cast all balance damage spells outside of moonkin form. You can skip it in the druid class tree, and make a build that is quite “bad,” but if you don’t want moonkin form you currently don’t have to have it.
I would not be surprised if moonkin form doesn’t become a forced talent point spent upon selecting balance as your specialization. If I were designing the tree, this would be the first change I’d make.
Just buy Glyph of the Stars from the AH. You can have moonkin form that looks like your character with stars around it. You will see your gear and all. Kiinda like an astral blue shadow priest form.
