I have been trying to find this for a while. I hit renown 12, did the grimtusk hideaway quest chain and anything else I could find but I still never see the lunker sighting here. I want to tame the bear rare so I was trying to figure this out. Is it a rotational thing?
The lunker spot is only there when the fishing hole is the active one.
That being said, I don’t think Snufflegust is tameable, the only way to get the green and purple icebears is being with a Skinner with bait and some luck.
I am a skinner with bait, do you know the specifics? I was able to tame one of the blue ones, but I really like the green variety

Firstly, you must have the Skinning profession and have levelled Dragon Isles Skinning to the point where you can select the Bait Crafter specialization (see your skinning journal inside your professions panel).
You need to spend at least 10 points of Knowledge in Bait Crafter, then select and spend 20 points in the Mastery subspecialization, which will give your bait a chance to summon an Elite NPC (but don’t advance your Mastery to 40 or you’ll mostly summon a rare NPC and your chance of getting this bear will drop dramatically!).
Once you’ve reached this rank in both Skinning and Mastery, craft an Elusive Creature Bait and use it in an area where ice bears can be found in The Azure Span (around 64, 29 is a good spot).
The bait will randomly summon one of a range of NPCs, so it may take a lot of tries to attract an Elusive Rimeclaw, and likely many more times to get it in the colour you want.
While the base cooldown on using the bait is 12 hours, you can reduce it by at least 10 minutes for every creature you skin (this reduction improves as you advance Mastery).

Summoning 2 to 3 times a day for 2 months and only ever seen a few bears. Worst part is not a single green.
Very very frustrating RNG.
What I would like to know is given the amount of non-bear summons outside the cave, does it even matter where you summon then? Can you get a bear from other summon locations?
