How old were you when you played Vanilla?

early 20’s 35 now O.O

I never played in Vanilla.

I was 30 when I started playing TBC in early 2007.

I met my Wife while leading a raid in Ulduar. We’ve been married for the past 8+ years and have three kids together. I was a medic deployed in South Korea within artillery range of the DMZ, now I am a licensed massage therapist.

You bet it will, I won’t have as much time as I want to play the game, but it sure is a hell of a lot more preferable to the alternative of not having a family.

58, retired. Still retired. Only change between then and now is my priorities and perspective have changed a bit. Things that seemed important back then are now just fluff-n-stuff, not worth much after a second thought. Fun beats stress; it’s so much better to have fun than it is to stress over a video game.

I was also in Perth on a US server - except not on dialup. I was 32 at the time.

I was in middle school. I was 13 when I began playing classic. My friends n I were already hooked on these games. First being Diablo and Diablo 2. Then we played EverQuest. Then WoW came out n stole the show. When dial up was a thing back then, because my brother played too, our parents added a second phone line to the house just so we could play whenever without interrupting the house phone’s landline. I was influenced to play all these games starting in 5th grade when I was maybe 9 or 10? My friends older brothers got us started on Diablo and the medieval fantasy rpg games never stopped.

Now, I’m 28. I have a great job, I’m married, have two dogs, we don’t want any kids. My wife and I, my brother his girlfriend, the 4 of us all have time off of work the week of release. I’ll be off starting Wednesday night then we don’t return to work til the following Tuesday.

The journey feelsgoodman.

Reading this thread has made my day multiple days in a row. So many people have had incredible journeys, and I can’t believe we’re all coming home to azeroth.

It’s really gratifying to know that there are still tons of people who value the relationships and necessary cooperation we had back in classic. Here’s to new friendships.

I hope to bump into some of you on Grobbulous. =)

I was 21 in vanilla, I never played a mmo yet at that time. I was into playing Socom and Counterstrike. My roomate started playing wow and he got to around lvl 30 or so. He begged me to start playing and offered to pay for 1 month for me to try it. I told him i would try it but i " knew " i wouldnt like it cause i was into FPS games. I ended up subscribing about 2 days later. I beat my roomate to lvl 60 and been playing ever since. FOR THE HORDE!

My man…I felt that. Right on!

I believe I was 22 or 23

I’d be willing to bet that I was older than even you.

Never say that, unless you know Methuselah. LOL

now i am 44.
and now i am going to be playing Vanilla remake!
“be forever young”
no matter how old you get, you die playing Vanilla!

Man plays Vanilla.
15 years later son watches dad playing Vanilla renamed classic.
35 years later grandson watches grandad playing vanilla renamed epiclassic.
60 years later great grandad is playing vanilla renamed acticlassic.

I can’t wait for epiclassic.

I was 24 when i started in 05.

Yeah; my youngest frequently tells me to act my age. I keep telling her I don’t know how to do that … no one has ever lived this long before.

I was 16 or 17, I remember Battlegrounds releasing shortly after I began playing and getting into a WSG match with literally no idea what was happening.

I had to convince my grandma to pay for my subscription, which turned into a slight issue a year or so later when she looked at her credit card bills and thought someone had been going to Dairy Queen once a month and buying $15 worth of blizzards.

I was 16 when I first picked up the game in spring 2005 and turned 17 a few months later.
I actually took a pretty long break during the lifespan of Vanilla due to moving/being a teenager etc. so I didn’t really get deep into the game until I came back in 06’ before BC came out. Didn’t really raid in vanilla and to be honest I don’t really care about raiding in Classic one way or the other. I’m mainly going to RP and focus on the 5-man dungeons since vanilla had my favorite dungeons. If I raid, cool, if not, meh.

Around 35.

I was 9 years old. My brother had an account I woke up at 5 am some mornings to play 3 -4 hours before he woke up. i only reached lvl 42 atm. I’m 23 now excited to actually play the content i didnt to get play back then
