How Old is Wrathion?

In dragon years? Is there even such thing? He’s only like 5 in human years right? And yet he seems like he’s already as mature as an adult despite that he’s a whelp.

If we assume his human form is about 20 then 1 human year = 4 dragon years, so then dragon time goes by faster which just doesn’t make sense since they live so long. Would human form even matter when determining age?

Is there any lore about how dragons mature? Please help, I’m more confused than when I first saw Naruto’s sexy jutsu.

You are thinking in reverse. 4 dragon years = something like a few months human years. Wrathion might as well be a baby regardless of you look at him in dragon or human years.

Wrathion is hard to get a read on because he is highly unique from birth… or er… creation? He was the result of a titan device erasing old god corruption from a black whelp corpse, a wild black dragon egg and one of Nyxondra’s eggs, and then what remained of them all being reassembled into one frankendragon egg.

Given he was effectively made by Titan magic his aging process might be a bit odd. He was also highly intelligent from the moment he hatched, which your normal whelping does not exhibit, and was able to use complex magics to shape shift way earlier than seems normal.

The only example, aside from Wrathion himself, that I can think of is Awbee from Upper Blackrock Spire. Awbee was a whelp the first time you find them in Classic and they help you in the revamped Upper Blackrock Spire as an adult dragon during Warlords.

So that’s, what? Ten years to reach their adult dragon form from whelp form?

Its hard to say how many years have passed since Cata. Enough that Dagran Jr. should no longer be in a cradle in Ironforge though…

Ah so we have some Oryx and Crake stuff going on. Alrighty, I think that actually makes sense.

How does Wrathion compares to Ebonhorn? They are siblings if im not mistaken Ebonhorn being much older so why does it seem Wrathion is the boss and head of the Dragonflight?

I think Ebonhorn wants to remain with Highmountain.

I ask because Wrathion acts as if he were so special and entitled to command the black dragonflight. He also gets a unique dragon form while Ebonhorn being way older than him only got a regular everyday model.

It’s because Wrathion is a more important character than Ebonhorn as far as Blizzard is concerned. Matter of fact, Wrathion was almost Ebonhorn until they realized it wouldn’t make sense and replaced him with a new dragon.

i honestly chalk it up to nothing more than Blizz not wanting us to be smacking around a toddler near to death in the raid

Too young to be shipped with Anduin, this much I know.
