I’m going to say late twenties to mid thirties, purely based on when WoW came out, and when the WarCraft franchise hit peak popularity in general.
MMOs seem to be on the decline, but I’m still seeing people who’re newcomers to the whole thing, so young to middle-aged adults seems a fairly safe bet. There are a lot of older players, too, though! It’s kind of amazing that WoW attracts such a wide audience.
Personally, I’m approaching the 30 mark, but I absolutely love the sheer variety of people I can meet in WoW. You get so many amazing stories, for example, from people who were fighting in the Gulf War…

Meeting new players on Classic is super interesting. I always have to ask what got them to play the original version of the 15year old game in a declining genre.

I think it’s the same reason someone’d play Super Mario World - playing a game from a previous generation is just interesting. Ideas and development ideologies were so different at the time, compared to now. Heck, I’d go as far as to say the early 2000s were more an extension of the '90s than anything.
I can’t blame people for wanting to experience that. Yeah, 2004 was an unpolished, highly experimental era in gaming … but that’s kind of the appeal! Even I find myself revisiting games from around then, just 'cause they were so different. God they haven’t aged well, in most cases, but I really love seeing different approaches to similar ideas!
