I’m not sure how insanely strong raid item level scaling is in this game.
In FFXIv if we don’t have perfect BiS raid gear we still have no issues doing any content. Heck, even by definition of not having raid gear until the end you don’t even NEED it for raids-- rather just for speed clearing it again with higher ego parses.
But I’ve heard m+ loot has been gutted, which includes the weekly lockout chests.
How much of a difference will that make in stats? Like 20% less DPS? 30% less DPS?
Mythic geared raiders have been known to solo current tier bosses in Normal. The power disparity is silly.

The weekly chest is being BUFFED…

You can definitely do better than this for bait foxy one.

You heard wrong. Spammable M+ loot has been lowered to be below heroic. The M+ box at the end of the week will contain mythic item level loot.

A majority of all players in the game are not mythic raiders so you will not be any weaker than the average player.
Additionally, no content other than mythic raiding is tuned to require mythic raid gear so you will be able to complete all content without mythic raiding.

I’m literally asking cause idk…
Well, now you know.
And whomever you heard that stuff from? Never listen to them again.

What are you hoping to get out of this thread OP? Why do actual numbers matter, you’re still going to be able to do the content you plan on doing, if you run normal dungeons, you don’t need mythic gear? What more do you want.
And also you won’t deserve to perform as well as someone with better gear for obvious reasons.
You don’t have to be an intense raider with a team to get mythic raid gear.
In 8.3, most players were able to PuG the first two to five bosses every week - I know because I did it on several characters. The first bosses are intended to be MUCH easier than the final bosses, you can see this by looking at the 10th percentile parses for each boss - groups killed Skittra with less than half the DPS required to kill Ra-Den or Il’gynoth.
I suspect that the new raid will be the same. People with Heroic raid gear or more will likely be able to PuG the first few bosses with no problem after about 3 months.
If you don’t raid at all, you’ll still be able to gear up with M+ or rated PvP, but it will take longer. A person who does all three will gear up the most quickly.

I want to know what my goals should be honestly.
I am trying to make a decision on what server/faction/calss to go and if I just want to say “Screw raiding” right now from the get go. I just want a good plan of what goals I want honestly… :s
How would whether you’re raiding or not affect what you’re going to play?
Tell us what you’re considering and we can offer tips.
all depends on what you mean by “others”… compared to mythic raiders, yes, the disparity can be quite large. however only a minority of players actually mythic raid. so compared the the “average” player, you are going to be just fine.
are you comparing yourself to the top people in the game, who you likely won’t even run into on a regular basis, or are you comparing yourself to your peers, average players who you are going to run into and run content with on a daily basis.
Not significantly. You can do and enjoy most content by sticking to heroic+mythic 15s.
Mythic gear would make mythic easier and you’d see generally high numbers.
Have a look at Bloodmallet - often it’s the item itself rather than the quality that matters.
I’ve posted my exact story a few times, so I wanted ot avoid “spamming” it in the OP again.
I had some friends I raid a bit with on FFXIV invite me to proudmoore. But their raid doesn’t need healers, so I tried balance and feral druid and I honestly hated everything about them.
For me I’m very specifically interested in very engaging healers that get really into the fray. So catweaving r. druid is great, holy paladin (even with holy light change) feels good, disc priest is good and I REALLY love mistweaver monk.
But all of their DPS specs are bad and honestly I don’t really enjoy them. Only DPS I like are BM hunters and warlocks. Everything else I really can’t get on board with in spite of trying super super hard and playing them on PTR last month excessively.
So this means if I avoid raiding completely alliance would still be ok. Obviously can’t raid with guild. But I could just do m+ on proudmoore easily.
If I wanted to raid it’s become abundantly clear to me that I need to go Horde, and specifically Area52.
So right now this is a pretty daunting choice because it’s not just faction but also servers and stuff. I’m kinda overwhelmed.
right now, since patch, the difference is almost nothing. The highest ilvl gear in the game has 1 major and 1 secondary stat point higher than the next tier, and 3, maybe 4 stat points higher than basic gear that’s thrown at you from everywhere.
Mythic raiders are currently equipping quite a few lower ilvl pieces (including a trinket that’s about half the ilvl of mythic gear) in favor of effects, ideal stats, or having a bonus stat like leech or speed.
The % difference between m+ and mythic raiding is 0 … you heard wrong about the weekly chest.
Well, outside of M+ and raiding, the gear doesn’t matter. So you’d be fine if your not doing either.
Well for me I want m+, high level m+ because I can’t get that anywhere else. I love dungeon crawls a lot.
But without raid gear if I can’t compete then I may as well quit right now or find a mythic raiding guild.
You’ll be 15 item levels weaker as a heroic geared player. What that means is skills > gear at least so far in that catagory.
