How much time has past from vanilla to SL?

In game… I’m super curious…

Going by Anduin’s age, 10-15 years.

8 years supposedly

:point_up_2: This is about accurate, Anduin was born year 15 and Arthas notes Varian was a new father then, cataclysm notes Anduin is ten when he temporarily takes the throne in Cata, and he’s 17 in Legion (just turns 18 in BFA/SL).

he doesnt look like he’s 18 to me. this is very interesting to know.

35

In the original game Anduin was a child of maybe 6 years old. Now he’s the King of SW leading the Alliance. At the beginning of MoP he was a teenager that seemed like he was 14 or 15. By the beginning of Legion he was probably in his early 20’s and at this point in time based on his appearance and demeanor I’d say he’s close to being 30.

WoW launched in November of 2004 so the game itself will be 17 years old this year - but in game I’d say more time has lapsed than that - a good 25 years by my judgement.

Man Azeroth must be stressful as hell if all the xpac happen like directly after one another canonically

Just 0 down time, constant death threats

Last I heard; Blizz said that each expansion takes place over the course of 1 year in game time.

They’ve also said that at some point in Shadowlands (or by the end of it) we’re going to have a time jump.

Edit: If you go to WIRED’s YouTube page, Blizz did a total timeline breakdown back in 2018. That might have actual in game dates.

Vanilla was year 25. The visual guide goes up to WoD. We can assume the trend continues into Legion, BFA and now Shadowlands. If that’s the case, we’re in year 34, so roughly 8 - 9 years have passed.

His in-game model doesn’t look 18 (mainly due to model limitations), his CGI cinematic model looks like a young Brad Pitt and age-appropriate.

in your opinion. i see him more as in his mid 20’s.

Anduin was 17 at the beginning of bfa, so far as I know.
So… 18 or 19 now.
He was 5 or 6 at the beginning of WoW…
So…
12-14 years in-game?
Blizz originally made it out as the expansions would be something like 5-10 years each, but they changed it to reflect how much time IRL was spent on them, cuz I guess it confused too many players.
WoW is what… 16 this year???
So…
16-17 years, for what I know.
Anduin should be in his early 20s now. 21-23 is my wager.

timeline is on wikis, theres nothing to argue about

Why are you pretending like you don’t know how GD works?

And it was weirdly quiet prior to Warcraft I, after which it’s been constant nonstop chaos. It’s been downhill ever since those darned orcs stepped through the portal.

Each expansion is 1 year.

A lot of this is his personality. His character was developed as a calm, cool, and collected counterpoint to Varian’s brash and temperamental personality.

Varian really acted more like how we would think a teenage king would lead.

I’m just giving my perspective. I watched another cgi video to confirm my point of view and he looks mid 20s to me lol.

This is like looking at a person that looks 10 years younger than they are. It’s just perspective. I even commented on the fact I found it interesting he was only 18.

Whole lotta wrong answers up in here.

Anduin in his 30’s, lol…

This is correct.

To be fair there were plenty of issues before the orcs showed up, it was just mainly with trolls.

Well you can see him as mid 20s, yet Blizzard says he’s 18. Hence ‘boy king’. His in-game model does look older than his cinematic one though.
