How much is it to upgrade ALL Heirlooms up to Lv 60 and is it worth it?

I plan on leveling a ton of alts but I wanted a full mail set + 2 trinkets and a weapon upgraded to level 60 as the iLevel diff between that and the gear that normally drops is actually kinda massive.

What’s the cost on upgrading them to max for everything and do you think it’s worth it?

following

It’s not worth it. You can just set your time to Classic/Wotlk/TBC and do random dungeons as a healer/tank you get instant queue and you also get a bag with an item in it + what the bosses drop and the ilvl is much higher than any heirlooms. I just leveled my DK from 10 to 30 in about anhour… It’s a real joke.

Probably looking at 45-60k+ a set and it depends.
If you have a lot of gold or make it easy and level alts frequently, I’d say it’s worth it.

I enchanted mine a long time ago so I just upgrade them each xpac and mail my old ones to new toons.

You can also wait until it’s timewalking week and dump those points into loom upgrades. That’s what I usually do these days.

Here is one of my alts for example. You can see what kind of enchants you can use.

I’ll be leveling primarily DPS.

was worth it when it had %exp but now it’s not.

i wouldve never invested anything there if i knew theyd one day remove the %exp.

it was a classic bait and switch lol

As a returning player my old realms were afk toast. No one was hardly on them. My guilds were gone. Well what should I do with my money I thought? I know I’ll upgrade my heirlooms!

So I spent about 10k per heirloom to upgrade it up to max, may have been a tad more. I can assure you that I spent nearly 200k gold and didn’t max out all of the heirlooms. It isn’t worth it. It’s made certain aspects of leveling “nicer” as far as not falling “behind” on gear since you level quickly. Honestly it’s a gold sink…nay a gold drain…a gold LEECH even. If it STILL HAD THE XP BOOST ON IT BLIZZARD!!! Glares angrily … THEN…MAYBE…it MIGHT be worth it…

To think I spent all that time in WotLK to earn “currency” to purchase all my heirlooms to get bonus XP to now have worthless attire that is a moot point when you level so quickly now. It’s a waste of time, gold and sanity. I wouldn’t even purchase any. The ONLY ones that are “good” are trinkets that will give you HP back when you kill mobs, a weapon so you can do good damage (but most enchants won’t work on them) and a ring but that itself takes a LONG time to get / unlock.

TLDR: You’re better off taking a cheese grater to your “tenders” and burning your money with a blow torch. It’s about as useful. Don’t do any of what I said heirloom wise or other. >.>

DPS then I’d say do the quest line in BfA. From 10 to 50 you can do in about 4-5 hours and then 50 to 60 with the legendary quests… They are literally a real joke and 60 to 70 you can quest and spam dungeons even as a DPS it goes fast.

As for the heirlooms… I mean if you have about 803k gold then sure… Upgrate everything.

Nah it’s still worth it. Yes you lost the xp gain, but keep rested longer. And not having to replace gear, especially with how fast leveling is now, is pretty big.

Most enchants I’ve tested work.
Crusader still works great, but there are better options now. Dancing steel is really strong, especially if you dual wield. Then you can add mongoose for offhand.
Tons of combos.

Oooooor… don’t use gold.
If you level a bunch of toons, it’s worth it. One here and there, probably not.

Heirlooms are a waste of time now tbh

I seem to remember it being around 110k per set.

Not really worth it.

depends on how much disposable income you have and are willing to waste on WoW tokens I’d say

Honestly if you’re going to use heirlooms for this then your best bet is to create a character, put on the heirlooms, get through the exile island start zone and go to an inn. Log them out and let them sit for a week and get 10-20 levels worth of XP on them to level up with quicker. Then park them again and repeat. Then you can casually level them up quicker and not have to face grind.

It’s what I did with my new character. I parked them, had to handle life stuff for a week. I came back and earned about 20 levels easily before my XP bonus ran out. So I mean it is worth it if you casually want to level and keep the rested. You can do that with many characters. Make all that you want, get them all parked in the inns then alternate your characters perhaps.

I spent all my gold since I was going to start over on a new realm. It was somewhat worth it so I could quest easier but honestly if it’s to stay on a single realm you can level an alt by purchasing gear as you level if you need it.

At the end of the day you feel your way about it and I feel my way about it. I don’t think it’s worth it hardly any more. People who earned it back in the day for the XP bonus and such got baited and switched as someone else said. Sure we get to “keep rested XP” but then we have to log off and let it build up for it to be truly worthwhile and get you decent mileage from my observations. Either way I guess it was worth it for my chauffeured mount I can use til level 10 now. shrug

I have lots and I’m a WoW spendthrift.

The only really useful thing about the heirlooms now is you get to keep your enchants.

i think it could be worth it if you have a whole lot of characters you like leveling up a lot, i bought them myself. but some of the heirlooms are identical to each other statwise so don’t buy or upgrade more than one of the identical statted ones IMO.

i really think Blizz should change the identical statted ones to be differently statted, like throw mastery on some of them or something.

At this point, I guess it really depends on who you ask.

^ Seems about right as far as pricing goes. Haven’t crunched the actual numbers, but I’d say you’ll easily blow at least 50K for a full set.

Now, some folks constantly whine and moan about no XP boost anymore, but honestly? Leveling itself is an absolute joke now. World record 1-60 is just under 9.5 hours last I checked at the start of DF. I just took a new warrior from 1-60 in about 14 hours of active leveling.

Now, in this case, active would be defined as being time spent actually earning XP. I’ve got my exact time due to an addon that tracks it and gives an estimate on timing per level (Journey is the name of it for anyone curious), as well as estimates on kills, gathers, quests needed to level up. My /played time was about 22 hours if we factor in all the times I stopped in Stormwind to unload my bags, put stuff on the AH, travel elsewhere when a zone was cleared, etc.

It was already pretty quick in Shadowlands when the XP bonus first came out. It’s ridiculous now, especially once you get into the level 30+ range when XP from quests takes a MASSIVE jump. Honestly, anyone still lamenting the loss of the XP bonus really hasn’t leveled a character, or they’re so inefficient at it that they don’t realize how little time is actually being saved from rested XP.

Now, a full set WILL extend out the rested XP bar, but once again it is absolutely minimal amounts of time saved. Rested XP saved me a grand total of 17 minutes, 36 seconds.

Yeah…it sure as hell doesn’t have the massive effect that it did once upon a time.

Now, as far as other reasons go? I think the gear is still worth it in the regard that it’s a slot you don’t have to worry about until you’re 60 if the gear is fully upgraded. The key issue I tend to find with leveling now is that you level so quickly that gear gets outdated and underpowered for your current character level FAST. Get a string of bad luck or quests that don’t give upgrades you really need, and you could actually wind up with slots that might as well be empty. Saw this with my warrior I just leveled as I didn’t get a single upgrade to boots from the moment I left Exile’s Reach up until my early 30s. Even when you are getting decent gear, nothing really lasts. On the off chance you do get an epic, you’ll likely have it replaced in 2-4 levels, and with the speed of leveling, that’s maybe an hour tops.

I personally think it CAN be worth it as I’m not constantly worrying about most of my gear on alts. I think the real question is this: do YOU see yourself leveling a fair number of alts, particularly those that wear the same type of armor (such as plate for warrior/pally/DK, cloth for mage/warlock/priest, etc.)

If only bfa had that leveling speed…

It takes Horde forever just to travel through their first zone and they don’t get flying at 30 cuz pathfinder.

I highly doubt they did 10-30 in an hour. Even if everything was optimal, all quests available to the instance were finished, and they had ZERO repeats (repeats would actually DROP leveling efficiency due to the quests being cleared out previously), it still wouldn’t be an hour.

Hell, some of the Classic/BC/Wrath era instances take a good 10-15 minutes to just get from the entrance to the end. Let’s average it out to five in an hour. Five instances did NOT get them 20 levels, and if it did then I’ve love to see that video.
