How much is Artisan's Mettle worth?

The newest trend in crafting orders is a player listing orders without Artisan’s mettle

Today I saw someone who had several orders up where they were offering 5k gold with no mettle and either some or all of the other mats. It was obviously the same player using different alts because of the naming.

I’m not going to call this a scam because some of my characters have an abundance of mettle and little to spend it on. OTOH, I’m not sure how much to value the stuff.

5k with no mettle - hmmm, depends. 500 with no mettle can take a hike

At this point, you can argue that mettle is worthless for the purposes of computing the value of the craft attempt. Which simplifies the math: is the tip worth it on its own?

For that reason, I could see 500g being “not worth it” (because you still have to expend something of limited availability: 4 crafting orders per week). Whereas 5Kg is more in line, IMHO.

Since a lot of my characters are just now getting into professions and I need my tools but do not have the mettle for them. I’m usually able to get them made for around 1500g commission. General consensus that I’ve been able to gather is that it’s so abundant now that people are just sitting on stacks of it with nothing to do with it. But 500g is too low imo with that being like, one dragonriding world quest.

In 10.0 and early 10.1, I would ask a minimum commission of 10k to use an Insight. Upwards of 95% of people were willing to pay, and I usually had fewer than 15 Insights available because I did a lot of business.

With business dropping now that we’re this late in 10.1, I’m currently asking at least 5k for an Insight.

So, short answer, 100g apiece. I won’t craft anything for less than that.

It would depend on the profession for me. My LW, Chanter and to a lesser degree Alchy have a use for mettle and eagerly awaits every reset to replenish there supplies.

I would go with Beleynn for the rest.

New season coming soon, so it should toss things around hopefully.
