How much haste should a DH have?

Pretty new to DH. Been enjoying it so far more than my Frost DK. Anyway, how much haste should we have at maximum? Right now I’m sitting at 18%.

I mean as a DH your main focus shouldn’t be haste. I think you should focus more on these stats listed below in order:

  1. Agility.
  2. Critical Strike
  3. Mastery
  4. Vers
  5. Haste

That’s how I look at it through my sense, but it really depends on what you’re trying to accomplish. What are your goals? You doing PVP or PVE? Have you watched any guides on DH stats?
I found this guy as a useful source, I don’t main DH, but he may have a better idea: Demon Hunter Guide Video

This stat priority is not accurate at all

@OP go to raidbots and run a sim on your character, that will give you your stat weights and tell you exactly how much value each of your stats hold. Generally your stat weights will be Agi > Haste > Vers > Crit > Mastery, Versatility and Crit will be valued higher once you get closer to 1k haste.

For pvp I value Versatility over Haste because of the damage reduction and healing increase. But it really just depends on your playstyle

Thank you for clarifying, I do not main a DH so I did not know the best way to help him. I was actually speaking to one of the top DH’s on my server right now that told me that Haste was not main priority, but I don’t know what he’s on about. Thank you for assisting him Tornado.

As an Affliction Warlock I don’t primarily focus on Haste that much, although that is different as a Destruction Warlock. As an Affliction Warlock most of my spells are instant anyway, but I’m also not associated with direct PVE content, so I don’t really know whats to be ‘on par’ with the current raid stuff.

Once again though fam, thanks again for helping him out.

From experience … I would say roughly 1400 haste is what you need (20%~)
Anything above that is a huge waste.
Some might argue that you don’t need all that much but at this point, it’s up to you to make up your mind and see what’s working best for you.

At the moment, I’m running 20/20/25/4 … currently working on dropping some Mastery to favor a bit more Versatility/Crit.

@OP As previously said you should sim your stats on RaidBots. If you get the Simulationcraft addon you can type /simc in game, this will give you a script for your character you can use on the website.
Every individual character is going to sim different on what stats you will need to prioritize.
As a general Rule Agil > Haste = Versatility > Crit > Mastery.
If you get a piece of gear that is only +5 ilvl, I would sim it. Raidbots is SUPER easy to use, simming your character has never been easier with it.
You can also use it to sim different weapon enchants and see what works best, it’s super handy.

The reason a top DH told you that is because his stat priority has changed with their significantly better gear. It is always advised to sim your character. Honestly I don’t do it enough.

Ah I see. Maybe I’m doing it wrong with my Warlock then? I just focus on Mastery, Crit, and Haste.
Intellect as well.
What do you think?

I hate to be that guy, but it is just so important to sim your character, every time you get a new piece of gear. It really just depends. My lost stat right now is haste as well, but when I was lower ilvl it was haste by a landslide.

This is the first time I’m hearing about the Sim portion of everything. I heard there are certain websites and stuff? What is all that about? I’m not much of a raider so this is all new information for me. How would I go about “Simming” my character?

What the hell is happening here? People offering advice who don’t even play the spec thinking its fine that they tried?? No one cares about your affliction warlock stat priority - if you can’t offer valuable advice to others in the DEMON HUNTER forum them don’t spread misconceptions by literally posting the exact opposite stat priority by guessing

Go to raidbots (.com)

Click the “stat weights” tab. Enter your character name. Hit simulate. Wait. It will give you a break down of your stat weights. These will be a ratio of sorts. For example, 1 point of agility will equal 1.82 DPS. 1 point of verse equals 1.65 DPS and so on. It will also give you a “pawn” string. What you do is you get the add on called pawn. You copy that string raid bots gives you and paste it into pawn. The addon will then tell you what percentage of an upgrade certain items are for your current equipped stat weights. Once you equips that item, you run you stat weights again because that 1 piece of gear have now changed your stat weights.

The general stat priortiy is Agility > haste > vers but this doesn’t mean you will always value haste above all

Always sim your character. Once I was at about 18% haste, versatility starting simming a lot higher so I changed my gems/enchants around

One of my characters is a DH, I have played both specs and played them decently well, they are not my main, but I found valuable information out of the kindness of others, and I do thank those people. My  out for those people, thank you for your valuable information and kindness.

I wasn’t posting misconceptions, I was asking questions and offering advice to the best of my intellectual ability, and based off of my knowledge. I sought out advice from other DH’s thus speaking to them directly, and contacting them. I apologize if I’ve offended you, there isn’t much of a need to get uppity and direct, as I held the best intentions.

It’s kindness like this that helps people:

I really appreciate your assistance, and I will be giving you a  for your help. I didn’t know this information, and I really appreciate you helping me out, even though I’m a Warlock on the Demonhunter forums. This community must thrive on helping each other out (A core vanilla value) and must exemplify unity at most. If I see someone posting a question, regardless of location I will do what I can to the best of my intellectual ability to help them, as it should be. Something that you did today, so you have my thanks.

I get that man, but unless you know what you’re talking about you shouldn’t just be guessing. “I think you should focus more on these…” is what I’m talking about. Like the stat priority you posted is almost 100% in reverse of what it should be.

Anyways, OP - its good to have an understanding of general stat priority for your spec, but with how diverse gearing is now you’ll need to sim your character to find out whats best

Thank you for the constructive criticism, I will use it to better formulate my advice set next time.

Now does Simming also work for PVP content, or is it excluse to PVE?

Tbh I don’t think dimming for PvP matters at all. I would probably just stack verse.

In my experience, haste/crit/verse are all weighted nearly equal with agility being substantially more valuable and mastery being substantially worse.

This can answer your question, to fairly large extent. This is based on secondary stat distribution; Haste, Mastery, Versatility, and Crit. Agi is not considered as it is a primary stat. You can use it to decide what stat weights you want to aim for.

https://bloodmallet.com/index.html#demon_hunter_havoc?data_view=secondary_distributions

Generally, I’ve noticed that once we hit 1k haste, crit and vers take more priority that haste. You want mainly want enough haste to squeeze in two death sweeps in every demonic meta window. Haste priority also depends on whether you’re running the trait furious gaze. Because of the haste buff that furious gaze gives us, our base haste priority goes down even more.

Ofc it all really depends on your toon and the gear you have. Everyone’s stat weights are different and change everytime we get a new piece of gear with different secondary stats.

Right now, I’m running with 23% crit, 12% haste (13% with haste food), 18% mastery and 11% vers. I’m running the “trifecta” Azerite trait build, which is furious gaze, thirsting blades and revo blades. This build seems to be the most well balanced build for us and I suggest everyone try it out. It feels great!
