For me, it’s just the cost of subscription and expansions for my wife and me- we don’t buy any of the microtransaction stuff or gold. So, we’re in for about $450+tax so far this year ($89x2+$15x2x9).
I’m curious what others spend on this game. Do you buy the shop stuff? Do your kids play?
I did the math the other day and since I started playing in 2009, I’ve spent roughly $2000 to date.
The price of sub and expansions for two. Though we did buy the epic edition this time around.
Oldest daughter plays from time to time but we just throw a month on her account when she’s interested and otherwise that would be all. No tokens, no services, no shop pets/mounts.
Yeah, that’s pretty much exactly what we do.
I wasn’t going to buy the epic edition, but I realized we could pay for the difference by getting a head start on our professions.
Injust returned from a long hiatus back in July but I have played on and off since like 05/06? So my $ varies. I have got a few collectors editions and some swag, and some digital sales. Maybe Just Sub and extra goodies here and there but never an absorbent amount.
The steelseries headset and mouse looks really cool for the 20th Anniversary so may drop a few dollars soon again 
I’ve probably dumped about $5,000 into Blizz since 2009. Well, make that $5,020 because I bought the Cataclysm pack for that sweet Rags mount. I don’t mind it though since I enjoy playing it. If there comes a time I don’t like it anymore, I’ll stop giving them my money
$2k on a hobby over 20 years is really cheap compared to others.
My MTG hobby is easily that every single year if I go a little crazy… Don’t even get me started on 40k either.

Basic expansion cost + sub (though just renewed after a 6 month hiatus using gold this time around). If there’s a sale on something that i really like i might buy it though, which i done before a few times.
My sub is the 6 month, then the war within, so at least $140 for that just this year. I also bought the murloc onesie not too long ago so $160
Probably too much, but I’d spend even more if they had housing, just sayin’… 
I’ve been playing WoW since vanilla (there were only a few of us back then), and I guarantee I’ve spent more than I’d like to admit. Before cross-server play, guild breakups, and raid progression groups, I used to be one of those jerks in Blood Bath and Beyond. Add in the sub fee plus $50 to transfer servers when things fell apart—yeah, even today, probably over $450 on name changes, $10+ each for three toons, race changes, and so on. I’ve definitely put in more than $1K since I started, not counting the monthly fee.

im sure ive spent alot on his game since 2011. Ive purchased all the xpacs since then. Paid for the sub. i have bought almost all the pets and mounts. Ummm i know ive paid for a few race changes/faction changes, guild server transfers and name changes also.
We need to start a support group, oh and we can play WoW when we meet up! lol
40R$ a month(Although I farmed some WoW tokens this xpac, so I am good for the forseeable future), typically at the end or beginning of an xpac I will also buy a race change or sometimes even faction change.
But yes, consistently, 40R$ only, a month of WoW sub, and I don’t typically play throughout an entire expansion, often taking break when I accomplish my goals, so I can’t give you an yearly plan here.
No idea to be honest, I couldn’t accurately add it all up as I have no idea when I was playing over the years or not (I take long breaks, often).

I pay in Gold (converting to gametime and Bnet balance). Have done this mostly since the token was introduced.
I’ve purchased 2 pets that I just had to have. Argi $10 and Pandaren Monk $5.
$24.99 during Remix for a second account (2 months of gametime and DF).
Transaction history only goes as far back as 2012.
My husband and I used to buy the $15 time cards from Walmart.
Guilty spent more on mounts and pets then i should but i don’t regret it
I just paid for expack, i had free sub since wrath classic and i have 2.5 years more free sub
Pay for my sub, every other expansion or so my wife my get into it, so her sub and a base level expansion on occasion.
Skipped BfA, but have purchased every other expansion myself, but only the base, I’m all set with all the extra gimmicky BS they offer to get people to spend more for pixels.
I don’t buy gold, or anything from the cash shop like mounts or anything. I ALMOST bought that cat mount when it was on sale one time, but resisted.
