How much do weapon item levels matter anymore? A long time ago, your weapon was super important for some classes and just a stat stick for others. How is it today?
Depends on spec.
I found that it wasn’t super important for survival (I was pulling pretty good numbers with a 246 weapon), but it matters a lot for MM. I think it’d be something like MM>> BM> Surv for importance of weapon damage. That’s not saying it isn’t an extremely important slot, but it’s weighted differently depending on spec.
It does vary. But your weapon dps specifically, is most likely going to be a big factor in determining what is or isn’t an upgrade.
The recommendation is that you get the sim addon to copy the code necessary to import to the raidbots website, and select the items you want to compare via a Top Gear simulation, and run it. Sims are what they are, showing numbers based on optimal conditions, and don’t necessarily reflect what you’ll see in-game. They will, however, show you which item that is the biggest upgrade.
If your character is up to date on the armory, you can also import it from there, to the raidbots website. This way you don’t need to do the copy-pasting code thing.
