twice once end of wrath until halfway WOD.
other was maybe a couple monthes because i had zero time
I think two times around BC and at the end of Lich King.
I had to stop because of college and job priorities.
A few times, and generally burn the account down behind me on the way out.
Quit at the start of qata and quit second patch in wod, and start of legion.
Dropped out for a few months before BfA, since there was nothing left to do in Legion. Subbed for 6 months in June, and immediately unsubbed to avoid auto-renew. 2 months left, will see if I want to pay more then (Depending on what Enhance fixes come out in 8.1)
Have taken long breaks yeah but never actually quit
Once. Was an every day player for almost 8 years until WoD happened and I started taking a week-long break in between each month, but I never quit. Didnât buy BfA and donât think I will.
After patch 7.3.5 and then the subsequent hotfix which removed the ability for high level players to help low level players without destroying their xp - that was lied about because it wasnât a bug - that was it for me. (Eariler devs specifically made it so that people could run their lowbie friends through dungeons just by plopping them at the entrance, and they also did it because people were dying in pugs, not being rezzed, and then losing xp as they ran back to the group. So they changed it and we could then help lowbies everywhere in the world - something that I liked to do while flying.)
If it hadnât been that, the changes to my hunter petsâ roles, abilities, and some appearances being destroyed would have been the last straw anyway. Karkin is a special tame robot crab which was silver metal, black detailing, and red carapace - not a blue blob! I donât care that itâs a âunique blue;â give me back what I tamed!
Unless I need to record more content for my soon-to-be youtube channel, Iâm going to resub for 1 month to get the Christmas presents and that will be it until I see what the next expansionâs going to be like. Theyâve changed or removed too much from my hunter and the replayability of the old content for WoW to be fun anymore the way I like to play it. (But Iâm loving FFXIV so far.)
I have unsubbed a fair few amount of times for many reasons. Boredom is the biggest, but also no time, other games, or moving around the country (too many times). How many I quit threads were made? Zero.
When I first started playing, I paid my sub with game time cards. There may have been a day or two between cards at times because I couldnât always get to a store that sold them. (We kind of live on the edge of nowhere. The nearest grocery store is 30 miles from here, one-way.) But Iâve never actually âquitâ. Now that I have a recurring sub, I donât even have to worry about renewing my time.
Twice. Once after the death of my mother. The other time because my WoW time was bothering my wife, and I just up and cancelled my sub right there. A year later she bought me BFA and a 6 month sub. Sheâs back to playing again as well.
Never voluntarily, there was a break for a while back in early WoW, before TBC where I was deployed and my account lapsed for some months. However, once I was home and had recovered from my injuries, I reinstated my account. Pretty sure that was not too long before TBC launched.
Semper Fi!
More times then I care to count in my 10+ years playing.
If I burn out or I am just not having fun or something else catches my eye.
I just move onto something else.
Right now Iâm playing WoW mostly to help cope with winter weather once its spring Iâm prob going to drop off and move onto something else.
I however may return for a mop timewalking even just to get the waterstrider mount.
I have unsubbed 3 times after each of these xpacs, Cata, MoP and WoD. Legion was the first xpac after WotLK that I didnât unsub after. Guess we will see how it goes with BfA
Iâve quit numerous times but my biggest break from WoW was halfway through Mists of Pandaria all the way through to the beginning of legion. Iâm going back to do warlords of draenor pathfinder and itâs pissing me off. I like speed, contrast and challenge and I hate grinds which is why the game peaked in WotLK and cataclysm for me. Legion was pretty good too since I got to jump right back into the game with a demon hunter and a character boostâŠeven though I accidentally picked an alliance character on Illidan server.
I will probably quit again permanently if flying isnât readily available at the beginning of next xpacâŠI donât have a single pathfinder achievement and this grind is super annoying.
Twice: during the year long period between last patch of Mist and Warlords, and again during the Twitter patch of Warlords.
Quit once at the end of Cata because I didnât like WoW PokĂ©mon and pandas. Thought they were making WoW a kids game.
Didnât come back till a month before BFA.
End of TBC I quit for 5 months because my dad passed away. For some reason it wasnât an escape or comfort to me.
Beginning of MoP. I was throwing a childish fit over pandas. That was my longest break of 8 months, IIRC.
This year I was on a 5 month break because I was going through cancer treatments.
Cataclysm over Paladin Stuff (Like a child with a point to prove)
MoP over Drama
Halfway through WoD because of moving to a new city
Never quit but did take breaks, longest in Cata (did not enjoy it), MoP (for work reasons) and WoD (got bored).
Sometime at the end of Cata i quit because of boredom, that only lasted for maybe 5-6 mo then during WoD, when Highmaul was the current raid, i quit just because I had lost any of the joy i once had for playing WoW. That lasted 3+ years and i really never planned to come back. When BFA launched i got sucked back in, and I donât anticipate leaving again anytime soon.
