How many people work on WOW?

And what are they actually doing?

Approximately 5 and they are playing with the hamsters.

Probably working on future content for this game and or other games. As to my knowledge a lot of the teams at Blizzard don’t just work on one game. But several.

Oh and also probably recording the stuff for Blizzcon for this Friday & Saturday.

Totally justified. What soulless person would choose work when there’s cute hamsters to play with? :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

The world may never know.™️

Some times I don’t think they know what they are doing…

I mean I would believe that if BLIZ actually put out a new game in the past 5 years that isn’t a WOW expansion (that can’t take too many resources beyond new art).

The credits screen for WOW goes on for like 20 minutes I think if that many people were working on it they could have built an entirely new game by now.

To be fair the engine WoW runs on, probably has gone through dramatic re-writes and upgrades to support the amount of systems that has been attached, dropped and re-attached again.

All I’d like is for them to decide on a system and just make it permanent and not a borrowed power thing.

I heard WOW is written in COBOL so only a handful of developers can actually make big changes to the game and that only the art is done in C++ which is why it looks more modern even though the core game is pretty antiquated.

I’d imagine their team has grown over the years.
3-4 per team. Teams could be quest writers, NPC scripters, terrain developers, rad mechanics etc. Let alone you got people who manage servers and connections, marketing, HR etc.
But plain developers of content, I’d imagine anywhere between 30-50 minimum.

It’s not written in cobol lol

not
enough.

LOL @ “community college”. Well done.

I don’t even think they have a marketing team. They just pay streamers and YouTube channels to talk about how great the new expansion is and sucker people like me into buying the game :joy:

Lolol maybe streamers are apart of their marketing team in secret

You forgot about the one person who spills their coffee when servers go down.
