how many people need to quit for changes to be made
… it doesn’t really matter what you’re upset about… personally I’m mad over microtransactions, mainly tokens…
but how many people need to quit the game for them to revamp what they’re doing
All of them.
No way they are ever getting rid of tokens. Way too much money to be made.
535,627 players need to quit before the changes you ask for directly will be addressed. I have this information from an insider.
You do understand that all your issues with tokens would still exist without them right? People where buying carries before the token existed and would continue even if they were removed. Hell if you do a quick google search you will find sites dedicated to selling carries and you buy them with a credit card.
Removing tokens wouldn’t end carries, they would just move offline is all.
Since you and all of us non Blizzard employees have 0 access to how many people sub or unsub, for all we know the numbers aren’t dropping much. If you are going off of the forums for all the “I quit” threads or the “My game time expiries on…” then not many at all have left. Those who post here saying they quit, actually don’t quit or if they do they are back within a couple of weeks.
People who actually quit, quit. They move on and don’t need to post whiny threads with 0 criticism nor solutions they feel would help.
I am sure there is an influx on cancelled subs with the lawsuit news though.
Yes, but there was a risk like getting your information stolen, getting scammed, getting banned, now it is far easier and blizzard aproved.
You play your own character, so they don’t have access to your character log in information. If you get “scammed”, you just file a charge back with your card. The only way you will get caught is if Blizzard goes undercover and buys a run to see it in action.
So the only real risk is Blizzard finally decides to go after them but lets be real a second. They have been around for well over a year and Blizzard hasn’t ran a sting on any of them.
There plenty of cases before of people crying on the forums getting “unjustly banned” for buying boost, how many do you see nowadays? Oh yeah 0 Blizzard aproved.
And while yes you can prevent, most risks if not all as long as you use your brain, people buying these services tend not to.
A lot… millions.
Notice how people aren’t talking about WoW’s resurgence in taking back the #1 MMO spot from FF14. The same place they got stats months ago from FF14 being on top now places WoW as being 500K above 14.
If you wanted a real number… I’d say if we dipped below 2 million subscribers then maybe… but that’s a drop of approx 1.3 million from where we are now
It was actually a really smart move on their part
They lessened costs by not having to target gold selling, and just sell it themselves for massive profit.
Those websites post fabricated player numbers because neither company releases their information. They have bots that scan socials to try and rate which games are more “popular”.
Also, literally no players need to quit if you provide positive-constructive feedback.
Just the 6 streamers and the two top competitive guilds
Bring on the fun watching Crazy Bearded Cat Ladys vs. She looked Eighteen for world firsts.
When I’m playing retail, especially when I’m bringing up a new character, it is not uncommon to put down for two or more tokens a month. So essentially I’m paying triple. Someone’s gotta pay, I can afford it and I need the gold. Ironically the downward shift in the game has led to softening economies to the point that most money is now token money, or carry money. When I started I gathered for all my gold needs, nowadays I don’t even need to bother with that, and I don’t mind.
The background issue is that the game has been redesigned to make the learning curve steeper and remove gear progression from casual content, thus making elite content indispensible, even to marginal players who aren’t ready for it and may well never be. That’s why so many casual PvPers have quit, because there’s no way to be “competitive” in casual PvP without elite gear, because your opponents will probably have that gear.
That would put their sub numbers in the negative
Zero
If you expect good changes to come due to people quitting you are really confused.
Even without tokens 3rd party sites still exist which yes people do use to buy gold which is against tos. People still offer irl money for compensation as well just check out eBay for itcg codes.
Only way to justify this imo is to make better content which I highly doubt they will go to that extent and charger a higher sub fee where players will still complain
I like tokens, I am not quitting over that. And microtransactions are optional, why the heck would anyone quit over that either.
In fact, I am betting huge numbers of people would be quitting without tokens. I wouldn’t go back to paying them real money.
Since tokens are the majority of their income, I doubt they will ever go anywhere. I’d say go to a game without external transactions ($20 isn’t really micro), but I don’t think they exist anymore.
Changes are constantly being made. They’ve just lost touch or they lost so much community support that they can’t change enough/fast enough.
