Human here - I’m going to level in Teldrassil from about Lv.5 onward. The reasons are: cat mount, great warrior quest rewards, great music and ambiance, and classic darkshore how I’ve missed you so.
Anybody else doing this? Where? Why?

Probably. I plan on having both Horde and Alliance characters, and if I start with Alliance, then no, because both characters will end up being Hunters. If I end up playing Troll, then I’ll be going to the Tauren starting zone, purely because I feel Tirisfal Glades and Durotar will be the most swamped. Not to mention, leveling as a Hunter is painfully slow pre level 10 by yourself.
One of my friends I’ll be playing with is Dyslexic, and they’ll be playing a nelf rogue so I’ll be heading to Teldrassil to help them figure out the quests.
Human here as well - Rogue. I’ll be running directly to the Night Elf starting zone. Few reasons.
Mounts of course is one. Back in Vanilla, I mostly leveled Night Elf and created a good routine for the quests.
Don’t forget everyone, make sure to speak with the flight masters as you pass through! I forgot in the stress test—very annoying to run back just for sword training.
I always drag everything i make to Human Lands lv 5 to lv 30, after that its the grand trek for the SM quest unlocks and I take a stop in 1k needles race track flats for quests before grabbign Gadgets FP and then back to Desolace. After that its all standard end-game prep to hit all the other dungeons for their entry level BIS items.
I suppose the greatest reason is Nightelf lands are distinctly lacking of Anvils…
Wetlands is a good place to make your home. FP and boat right there.
Straight to Westfall and hope for the best…
Nice! What route did you take?
This is a pro strat if you’re on a PvE server for sure.
OMG…Cabernet…did you just call me a “pro” ???
*** struts around flexing his manly dwarf muscles
I plan on doing all Alliance starting zones as my human warlock. Have to time things right though because there’s no warlock trainers in Teldrassil. Probably do NE 1-5 once I have my Imp and the 6-10 NE zone after I get the VW.
Will be playing with the family and the missus will be NE. That means the Gnome Warlock levels with the boys in EK and a Dwarf Paladin will get dragged across the ocean to level in Teldra lol
Dont you have some restrictions to do this? like class/race quest , etc. I remember this was a thing back in vanilla until… cata? Idk I just remember that you couldnt just go to another zone a level because you missed some skills/quest etc. Not 100% sure though. But yeah… at the end if you just want to have fun or do it for nostalgia is up to you.
yes there are restrictions and you’d have to back to your zone to do them.
For alliance wetlands is the strategic place to make your home especially at low levels when you have to go back and forth fairly often.
Yeah I’ll end up leveling both concurrently; in 5 level brackets so you still get decent quest rep, once everyone is around 15-ish pick a single path make whichever one is needed less the alt
Yeah, there are class ones based on your starting zone - like dwarf priest lv10 quest, taunt quest etc. So you need to have your homepoint in Menethil and FPs unlocked for a quick detour.
Do the shortcut! I did that on the stress test and it worked perfectly as a Night Elf running to Ironforge. There’s one from anyone running to Teldrassil too.
Or if you’re a druid it doesn’t matter because Teleport: Moonglade FTW!
As someone in the beta… gonna be a lot of disappointed people when they see how short they are on faction after leveling in another starting area.
Im anticipating this the most at launch and shortly thereafter as people hit 40 and 60. Going to take a ton of money in cloth turn ins to make it to exalted with a place like Darnassus.
You mean the graveyard warp to the dwarf starting zone right?
Yeah or vive versa to get to Wetlands.
