After doing some of my farms I thought…“Nah, no way the drop rate is as low as it says” and made me download it because I’d rather the statistics for a particular item to be accurate vs not. Is it common or uncommon for the community to use it?
I look at the Wowhead site all the time, is that what you mean?
I use Curse client thats about it
I use wowhead comments. WHs information is 99% crap, lol. Drop rates are pretty much never what they claim. Might not be their fault…maybe numbers were changes and WH just doesnt update it all.
So what I mean is there’s a add on within wow head you can download so it gathers information for that site, so the statistics become more accurate. That’s what I mean. I’m currently using it because I noticed the data was off for the legion assaults by a large margin.
My feeling is that when the drop rate changes on an item, the data you see on wowhead still is the composite of the overall historical drop rate. If there were 10 years of a .1% drop rate, and they increased it to 1%, the page has no way of detecting that change and relaying that to the reader.
There’s an addon you can get from the site that tracks things like loot drops, quest text, etc. and submits the gathered info to Wowhead’s database.
This is basically how they determine numbers like “X boss has a ~7% chance to drop Y item” and the like.
Yep, that’s the most glaring flaw of their system, they need a way to push loot tables to a “legacy mode” or something when there’s a confirmed change to something’s drop table.
Did the loot table for legion change and I wasn’t aware of it?
The problem is that Blizzard will never confirm a drop rate. Only on rare occasions do they admit it has changed. We only know what the drop rate for something is because of wowhead data. Sometimes it takes players years to get an answer to the question, “Does this even drop?”
Remember those BfA zone mounts people farmed in hyperspawns? I think they were like 1:10K during BfA. More recent comments suggest they are now 1:25k - 1: 50k. I know there was one I had 50k attempts on when I gave up and bought it.
yeah I was in tears last night because I hadn’t slept in like 18 hrs and a 0.3% chance item kept dropping but the supposed 0.5% wouldn’t.
Is this something I should be farming right now?
prolly not as its very much an acquired taste and most people think it looks ugly, plus its not a BOE. can only be traded to people within instance but its legacy content so.
