How many of you still click abilities?

How do you lose track of your cursor?

I started out as a clicker, but due to arthritis, I wasn’t very good at it (too slow, misclicking was problematic although sometimes comically so). That motivated me to quickly move to using keybinds for most things.

I’ve got three bars on keybind: main one, a shift one, and a control-shift one. The rest of my action bars aren’t covered by keybinds for the most part, but those action bars are for things like pets, mounts, toys, professions, or less often used things like deathgate or runeforging on my DK’s, etc.

I use a Logitech G13 gamepad and the mini-joystick on it for the shift and control-shift modifiers, so it’s like normal number key for the primary action bar keybinds, joystick up plus number for the second action bar, and joystick right plus number for the third. Combined with the 12 buttons on the side of my Razer Naga, I’m only using the keyboard to type messages in chat.

But using that approach I could have five action bars keybound if I wanted with the joystick left and down being additional modifiers with associated keybinds, but I find that three action bars plus a couple for my main mouse buttons that I use for mounting and fishing is enough.

/moo :cow:

I started in og wrath and it took me maybe 3 months to level to 80. I clicked up until maybe level 70. I started by using my 1-5 keybinds then kept adding more. Now I have about 25 or so binds if I need them.

I had to force myself to play that way so maybe that’s whats stopping people from changing.

Click every ability? No.

Click something at some point during a fight? Sometimes.

Clicking is a way of life. Please don’t make me lose my ability to blame my bad play on cat fur clogging the laser thus freezing my mouse.

I can imagine that some people have been clicking so long that there is an element of muscle memory to it similar to keybinds. It is possible to be so adept at clicking that very little attention is lost in the process. Imagining everyone clicking like a noob is something like imagining everyone using keybinds that they just set 10 minutes ago.

Sure they can play however they want.

Like I said I don’t understand it, it’s literally human nature to do something and try and get better.

Who tries to get worse? Or who plays a game for years and they are at the same skill level they were when they started?

That’s just crazy talk to me and I can’t understand it.

I think people are talking about abilities you’re using regularly.

Like I don’t hotkey my ports.

My food is F3 tho.

For me between 2004 and now with classic i have gotten better back in original i was a clicker for sure and was horrible. Now i dont click except for a few non essential abilities and ive improved. I know players that still click and could be parsing higher if they didnt click.

I use buttons 1-5. My mount is bound to F, and I have 3 things bound to my extra mouse buttons. Anything extra gets clicked.

Why do most people even show their ability bars? After all your hotkeys get imprinted, why even waste real estate showing them? The UI looks so much cleaner with all the buttons hidden/transparent. More room for all the other stuff
