How many of you really want addons in Classic?

Here is a list of addons that a raiding guild in vanilla required/highly suggested

Mandatory addons:

KTM 17.35 (Threatmeter)

BigWigs (Bosstimers)

Luna or Healcomm (Healing communication or Unit Frames)

Ora2 (Raidleader tool)

NaturEnemyCastbar (Enemy Castbars and timers)

Lazypig (Dismounting, loot settings, invites)

ItemRack or Outfitter (Item set swapper)

Suggested addons:

DPSmate (Multifunctional dps meter)

Trinketmenu (Trinket swap addon)

Theorycraft (Spell values and stats)

Buffalo (Buff frames)

Modified Powerauras (Buff or Debuff tracker)

OmniCC (Cooldown timers)

Prat (Chat addon)

ExpandAssist (Raid assister)

Bananabar (Clickable marks)

Eavesdrop (Combatlog)

Just to give an idea what people were expected to have ready to go when pushing content. Sure you can push through it blind if you’d like with a guild that has not intentions of being competitive on your server. But your recruitment is going to suffer as a good majority of people are going to get frustrated and leave after someone messes up a mechanic for the 10th time in a row.

It would be interesting to see the venn diagram between the ā€œno addons in classicā€ folks and the ā€œno flying in retailā€ group.

Addons were in vanilla, no changes.

Are you okey?

This thread is about current day addon functionality being allowed into a classic server.

Of which you gave no opinion on for or against.

Literally everyone.

I’m talking about for quest locations and rhings of that nature. Yea. We don’t know if we are getting armory or not. Blizz hasn’t said yet.

Pro addon from me. As with retail… its optional. If you don’t like them don’t use them. My choosing to has no effect on those who chose not to,

About as useful as a box of cheerios.

Why are you for addons in their current state being used on classic servers that they painstakingly made as original as possible?

Pretty sure they said no in the FAQ

the question for you then is should we use the same ones as then? New ones should not be allowed?

Exactly right

That’s because I’ve given my opinion on this in the multitude of other addon threads.
Guess you couldn’t tell my position from:

So you’re in favor of full automation?

I mean sure, love me some Supermacro 1 button macro afking for the whole boss fight while the macro does all my abilities for me.

That isn’t an answer, it is a half-assed attempt at downplaying what you are talking about.

You sound like a punk teenager.

some add ons do affect others. some do not. There needs to be a comprehensive discussion on which addons to use not whether we need add ons or not.

What are you new?

Addons have been around since vanilla. Why would you not use addons? I don’t get it.

I think OP has made some basic assumptions about addons without investigating properly. I installed several addon during the stress test and came across plenty of notes in the Changelogs that mentioned things being removed because the API didn’t support that function. Classic functionality and API is different to BFA. Just because an addon has the same name, doesn’t mean everything is the same under the hood.

Also, I haven’t seen the OP specifically say which addons he means when he says they give people an ā€œadvantageā€. Prettying up my nameplates and fixing up my chat windows should be none of his business imo.

I don’t even use armory much. I missed that in Q&A or didn’t care. Lol.

Addons have been around since vanilla, but the current ones haven’t been.

You want bliz to remake all the classic classes to be exactly like they are now too?

Oh probably not… you just want the stuff you can exploit to get stronger, and leave the original game as is.

I get it.
