How Many Of You Hardcore Players?

You guys should all get together and write a book about “my way to play HC,” with all the cute little rules you each make up for yourselves.

Itd be a fun read. Kinda cringe, but kinda cute too. Ya know? Im sure there would be a market for it, if you choose to trade on that market of course.

It is not necessary for me to write a book on how I play HC. I play it the same way as I have done since 2012: The IronMan way. Rules as follows:

  • Do Not Die!
  • No gear higher than White quality.
  • No enchantments on your gear.
  • No Talents allowed.
  • No Professions allowed except First Aid (this ruleset was made when Profession Quests existed - not so relevant in Era)
  • No Elixirs, Potions or Flasks allowed. A no Healthstones if you are not a Warlock.
  • No party, raid or group with the intent of getting help to further yourself in the challenge. This also means you CANNOT send yourself gold, bags, gear, whatever to assist in the challenge.
  • No food buffs or other external buffs are allowed. Class abilities, racials and personal buffs (eg. Power Word: Fortitude if you’re a Priest) are okay!
  • No dungeons, raids, arenas, or battlegrounds allowed.
  • Joining a guild is OKAY.
  • All Mounts and bags allowed.

Andddd we have our first entry for the book. “Vanillataur HC Iron Man.”

Who is next? :hugs:

I might do a run where I restrict myself to only white gear. Sounds kinda fun :expressionless:

Nope. Do not giv ME the honour for this. I did not invent it. Dave Casagrande did and later Stone took over.
It was thougth up in 2012 as a reaction to the far too easy levelling and boring Questing in Cata.
Kripp, Troll Hunter from US-Turalyon (Kriparrion) was the first to hit 85 in March 2012. Since then many have done it (but sadly not me).
Look here for more info before speaking again. https://wowchallenges.com/about-us/

Sorry but that portion of the book is already etched in stone sir. Itd be a lot of work to undo it so we will just let you keep the credit.

Asking what rules people will apply to their hardcore journey is not asking for changes.
Relax, you’re getting your bare bones hardcore. It’s ok if folks add restrictions to their play that you don’t have to use. Everyone can be happy. No?

Yes everyone can be happy. The addon moguls I’m sure can modify the addon for the official servers, and now that Blizz (at long last - and I fear maybe too late) have promised access to the API I hope that those in the know of such things will re-create the IronMan leaderboards for Classic HC in all its variable ways, so that we can have normal IronMan, Working Man (Proffs allowed - I’ll do this), Green Man (Green gear allowed), Blood Thirsty (no Quests) and teams for all these varieties.
Two variations: Pacifist (no kills) and TinMan (deaths allowed) will not be possible on the official HC servers.

At least I am happy with the official HC servers. Also without IronMan leaderboards from day one.

This reminds me of the player who leveled in the Pandaren start area by picking flowers. :smiley_cat:

Yes something like it, only you can also do quests like the starter Inn ones, the “go talk to …” ones and “fetch me this” ones. The problem in Era is that there’s not enough non-killing quests and exploring to bring you beyond level 8 or 9. I tried
Remember Herbing and Minimg gives no XP in Era.

Yeah, I was surprised when they added the xp to gathering. Im not really a fan of it either

Yes my sister, it is fine. HC is only a snack for me while i wait for the main course.

Ive kept up with hardcore reasonably well since Kargoz took the helm and steered it in the right direction. I understand that difficulty of the challenge might have some bearing on how the addon was designed, but the true purpose being the separation between HC and normal players on a shared server.

HC on practically every other game it has occurred in has only meant that if you die, youre dead, and you can only trade with those also playing HC.

At the end of the day, i hope you are enjoying the game you are playing for whatever reason it is that you play it. :hugs:

lol, i don’t think so.
there will be enough nice druids who will buff for free.
there’s a certain camaraderie amongst the HC community you might not know about. You care about people you see because you respect them for taking on the challenge and you kind of want to see them succeed. You WANT to buff them. That’s how it was with me anyway :expressionless:

… and that’s how it was in Vanilla, and how it still is on the Era server.

I’m just going to keep using the addon, man. I like that particular flavor of HC.

Is an interaction.
Not the greatest but better than click button get item from the ah.
YMMV

I had a HC character on Whitemane Cluster because I wanted uber hard mode, but died in STV… I knew the risks, Character = Deleted.
