I was playing rogue since before it was outlaw. Ill help you out. Just repeat after me. Im not that good and depend on crutches to play the game.
The addons i use aren’t really necessary for me to play, stuff like world quest tracker, TomTom, some pet battle stuff. I don’t use DBM/WA or any of that kind of stuff because i don’t do the type of content that requires it.
I guess my answer to the question is yes, but i wouldn’t be as happy as i am now, without my pet battle addons i probably wouldn’t do them anywhere near as much, WQ tracker makes doing WQ much easier so without that i’d probably do them a lot less.
On the subject of Blizzard looking at getting rid of some combat type addons, i think it’s a good thing, hard content should be designed around what a skilled person could pull off without addons, otherwise it’s just a never-ending war between Blizzard trying to create challenging encounters, and addon people working out how to best trivialize them.
That’s just my opinion though, and i don’t do that type of content so my opinion shouldn’t carry much weight lol

My addon no longer lets me auto sell junk.
What’s funny is all the people who only play the game on faceroll difficulties, complaining that addons “play the game for you” or “make the game too easy”.
If you guys are so concerned about the game being “too easy”, Blizzard should remove the faceroll-easy modes that you all stick to.

It’s playable, yes. I wouldn’t like it though.
It’s like asking someone if they’d take their car without the AC, navigation, heated seats, speaker system, windshield wipers, and sun roof.
Yeah I can get from point A to point B… but I’d rather do it with my AC running and music blasting.

Agree with any post mentioning ugly UI. Can I play without addons? Yes. Will I? Probably not - and I’d probably just go back to FFXIV.
Ion’s new “war on addons” is just round 2 of his “war on flying”, and it amounts to the same thing.
Complaints that flying “made the game too easy” were just as silly as the same claims about addons.
If people don’t like addons, don’t use them. If people don’t like flying, don’t fly.
This is just Ion wanting to be a control freak and attack the playerbase, all over again.
Will people leave over this? Yes, just like when they took out flying. And they won’t be coming back.
I could mythic raid encounters I’ve already internalised without it, yes. And I could progress without them too, just the internalisation process would be significantly longer.
DPS wise everything I track is in the base UI just uglier.
The concern I have with blizzard removing combat add-ons and redesigning encounters to match is I like the margins we have currently, I like the focus of mechanics being on execution and optimisation instead of communication for the most part. I want to be assigned a position but have a very short amount of time to reach it, opposed to have much longer but have to sort amongst ourselves who goes where.
I hope that blizzard, upon removing combat add-ons, recognises that “Go to X you have 4 seconds” and “5 people go to ABCDE you have 12 seconds” are two VERY different mechanics in terms of how they feel to play, and that encounter design is better with a mix of both.

You’re asking the wrong question OP.
The actual question is could you do +16s/Mythic raid/High end arena without addons in WoW’s current design? The answer is 99.99999% of people wouldn’t be able to.

Many if not most of the log and prog mythic tryhards wouldn’t have their status if they didnt have DBM and cheap auras to carry the mental load and distill information down to simple visual and/or audio blips that their simple monkey human brain can associate with a response.
Specs are way too convoluted and encounters far too complex for human monkey brains to realistically be able to handle optimally. This is 100% on Blizzard catering to past no life raiding tryhards to push the envelope to properly challenge them whilst knowing addons would just bridge the gap.
Sure one can functionally play the game with no addons considering the bar to success is absurdly low the lower the tier you play at but I will guarantee you that a copy of you playing with the additional power and info addons give will lead you to perform better and there is no denying a lot of people straight up rely and are carried by addons beyond what they would be capable of without.
5 gold says you don’t do any actual relevant content since you clearly don’t actually know how addons work.
It’s always the not so good player blaming addons.

So what youre saying is specs are too complex to play without addons and should be removed and such specs redone to support that. What an amazing idea

I used very little addons until every spec became a weakaura fest
So i’de probably be alright
