418k is a lot for one week if you have a 9-5 job.
For reference I’ve been farming honour all weekend and I’m at 252k

If you don’t want to commit to 3-4 hours a night to get r14 weapons I understand, but thats not something a 9-5 prevents you from hitting. One week of a little bit of grinding isn’t very much
the problem is AV meta, nobody enjoy this 5min games rushing the boss
3-4 hours of AB/WSG is way more entertaining, but AV is currently the hph meta → because of stupid threshold
its doesn’t prevent you on it’s own, but if you have a kid, or a family. Well its get rough

Yeah but balancing the game or making changes around “Muh wife and kids” usually leads to things like LFR that are pretty universally disliked
It is actually, especially when you get a streak of bad games (turtles) that take 45 minutes to an hour and you don’t get a lot of honor from it.
It’ll easily take upwards of 40-50 hours unless you get extremely lucky and have a whole day where you win 90% of your games in 7 minutes each.

Hahaha it’s very much a PvE topic since all the guilds are requiring R14 now.
How ridiculous, you used to PvE to dominate PvP, not the other way around.
If the game isn’t over in 12m just leave and do an alt, never stay in a turtle, its better to take the debuff and reque
Mathematically it’s better to stay in and get some honor over the 30 mins rather than have a 30 min debuff where you aren’t gaining anything.
Either way, 400k is a lot no matter which you choose.
Imagine having to leave 4 games in a row. That’s 2 hours gone and you got no honor.
The only way to do it is with well organized discord groups, which is what I’ll be doing those weeks.

This is complete fantasy. People like you need to stop vastly understating the effort required to hit r14 in the new system because it spreads misinformation and gives people a wildly incorrect notion of what is needed of them to complete the task.
Let’s first assume everybody has 3 hours to play every single night, weekday and weekend. It’s not that unreasonable that a single person or someone who has a tight schedule made with their SO or kids that they can put 3 hours away every night of the week, that’s 21 hours a week, and that assumes that for your entire time you are only purely in AV. Nothing else. No world farming, no raiding, no dungeons or materials or world buffs or anything at all. Just AV.
In order to make 418K in any given week on that schedule, you’d need to be earning ~20,000 honor per hour in a BG that you cannot fully and functionally premade, to accomplish this, and if we go with the more lax side of your presented range, ~15,000 honor per hour.
Literally nobody on this planet is queueing pure AV for 21-28 hours a week and getting 15-20k honor per hour, every hour. That’s utterly absurd and ridiculous to pitch that as the baseline expectation, or something that’s easy to achieve, and just shows you have 0 actual experience grinding out r14 in the new system.
I’m not going to sit here and act like the new system isn’t “easier” than the old system. We all know the original system was the most poopsock system of all, but it’s changed now, and that doesn’t mean the current one is so laughably easy that it comfortably fits in to these ridiculous exaggerations that some of these absolute frauds keep espousing because they have a chip on their shoulder that they’re unable to put in the time themselves.
If you’re planning to grind r14 in AV, expect literal full-time job hours in AV per week, and that’s aside from your actual full-time job. That’s actual advice from a person who has done the new grind and isn’t trying to poison the well or provide completely inaccurate information.

People are earning like 6k honor per hour right now, so you’re looking at around 60 hours for the heavy ranking weeks.

The revised (current) ranking system is already significantly easier and more casual-inclusive than the original system.
Getting rank 14 was intended to be an achievement that not every player is capable of reaching, and particularly not with casual levels of gameplay.
TL;DR: If you’re expecting to get rank 14 defaulted to every character, you are the one being irrational.
If you don’t have the time to grind, just accept that you don’t have the time to grind. Join raids instead (the gear is better there anyway).

R14 was never a skill ranking
getting rid of the threshold mean you still have to grind these 500k honor, but not fully in AV 8h per day

I got 3 toons to cap this week, getting 12k-20k an hour the entire time in AV. Horde are probably lower since they love to lose so much but i can’t speak for them

Not everyone can have everything they want on this game.
I’ll never get thunderfury or sulfuras, i’ll never see corrupted ashbringer (there’s no in game item I want more), and I’ll never have the scarab lord title/mount.
If you can’t obtain your pvp gear start making peace with it
